Just a me too post.
Hot weekend (close to 90) and after about 10 min of hard driving I'd get see the slip light blink a few times (what does that mean) and the CEL illuminate. Only one code, P0351. Happened near the top of 4th gear on an uphill. Reproducible. No other strange DI popping symptoms. I had to clear the code before getting to the dealership because it also turns off cruise control (why?) and I really wanted to use cruise control. I doubt I will be able to replicate the conditions that cause the light any time soon. Has it always been the #1 coil pack, or could it be any of them? If so, which cylinder is that? |

So i was given a part number for the new coil from a local toyota service department. SU00304670. He said it was based off my vin as there were a few. He did not show any in the country or warehouses.
He let me know to contact service in case there is another part number based on a tsb. Waiting on a call back from them. Sent from a Motorola DynaTAC 8000X |

Time to replace cylinder 1 coil here.
Used to only come on during really aggressive driving @ high RPMs and hotter days. |

Mine #1 coil hasn't acted up once yet since the tech diagnosed my car and found nothing wrong. I've been driving her harder than ever too. Running excellent now.

Happened again today. I was passing a loaded sand truck (spewing sand), 2 lane road. WOT to get around quickly (traffic coming).
No Subaru dealerships or warehouses have it in Florida sadly. Florida State Autocross Championship is this weekend...

It is good to know that you can replace it without jacking up the engine. A small socket wrench and some patience does the trick honestly. For those who are desperately trying to get their hands on a new coil, you might want to check car-parts.com. There are a good handful of wrecked 86s around the nation. |

Got the car back today good as new. I was starting to hate how the car sounded wot. Not that I did it much with the issue but still heard something crappy sounding. Its nice and smooth now.

I just popped this code today while doing some 0 - 100 logs. I have a automatic. Been doing a lot of these pulls over the last few days I was trying to replicate some engine roughness that would happen for a few moments after driving the car hard. I have not been having any di seals pop though as far as I can tell. I do have a berk hfc front pipe and perrin catback though. I cleared the code if it comes back Ill take it to Toyota.

I got this code after 6 months on the track, replaced all four coils with Okadas and was good for another year. Last weekend after running hard on the track the same code popped up so I replaced the cylinder one coil again - maybe this is going to be an part of my annual maintainence along with checking my DI seals.
