2017 Subaru BRZ Facelift

Update: The 2017 Subaru BRZ has been officially announced: http://www.subaru.com/2017-brz

MotorTrend has their first drive impressions of the 2017 Subaru BRZ here: http://www.motortrend.com/news/2017-...-drive-review/

The 2017 BRZ boasts updated coil springs and dampers, as well as a larger rear stabilizer bar. Further reinforcements were made to the chassis by modifying the strut tower braces, transmission cross-member plate and the rear wheel housings in order to increase the car's rigidity.

As for the 2.0-liter boxer engine, it now has new valves, camshaft and cylinder heads to go with its new aluminum intake manifold and redesigned exhaust manifold. The result is a slight increase in power to 205 HP and 156 lb-ft (211 Nm) of torque and better acceleration on 6-speed manual transmission models thanks to the new lower final drive ration (from 4.1 to 4.3:1).

The 2017 BRZ presents a redesigned front bumper, upgraded "Kono-Ji" style LED headlights, standard DRLs on all trims, LED fog lights, body-colored rear spoiler, full-LED taillights plus the new 10-spoke 17" alloys available on the two spec versions (Premium and Limited).

If you crave more, you can opt for the Performance Package, available on Limited spec versions. It includes Brembo calipers and larger rotors on both front and rear brakes, giving drivers a sizable boost in terms of stopping power, fade resistance and pedal feel. Also included in the package are the SACHS Performance shock absorbers and the unique 17" black aluminum wheels.

Inside, the Limited model comes with a 4.2" LCD multifunction display (6.2" on Premium spec), providing the driver with information such as lateral Gs, accelerator pedal position, braking force, steering angle, oil and water temperature, plus battery voltage and an integrated stop watch for recording your lap time whenever you find yourself on a race track. Also, those who prefer the automatic transmission will get to shift gears via the paddle shift controls. More subtle interior upgrades include the wrapped meter visor, updated HVAC control panel and "BRZ" embroidered in red on the front seats.

With Subaru Starlink smartphone integration and apps such as iHeart Radio and Stitcher, the 2017 BRZ is a well-connected car. It's also comes with Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and audio streaming, plus SiriusXM Satellite Radio, TravelLink and a handy Rear vision camera.

The 2017 Subaru BRZ is due to arrive at retailers in early September, though customers will need to wait until winter 2017 until the Limited version with the Performance Package arrives.

Brembo® Brakes and 17-inch Wheels
The available Performance Package features the Brembo® performance brake system for track-ready, fade-free stopping power, along with exclusive, wider 17x7.5-inch aluminum alloy wheels (Performance Pack available Winter 2017).

Newly Available Sachs® Dampers
The Performance Package also features Sachs® dampers to both provide a composed ride and help give the BRZ better control while cornering (Performance Pack available Winter 2017).

Direct-Injection SUBARU BOXER® Engine
The direct-and-port-injected 2.0-liter SUBARU BOXER® engine has been retuned to provide up to 205-hp. Coupled to a close-ratio 6-speed manual transmission with revised ratios, BRZ offers enhanced mid-range responsiveness to your back road adventures.

The Ideal Sports Car Layout
An extremely low and rearward engine placement means you get a sports car with optimal balance, an extremely low center of gravity, lightning reflexes, and exceptional rear-wheel drive handling dynamics. A re-calibrated vehicle stability control system features a ‘Track’ mode for even more handling control when you need it.

LED Headlights and Taillights
See, and be seen, with newly restyled LED headlights and taillights. Daytime running lights are now updated with LED technology, giving BRZ more attitude for your daily drive.

LED Headlights and Taillights
See, and be seen, with newly restyled LED headlights and taillights. Daytime running lights are now updated with LED technology, giving BRZ more attitude for your daily drive.

Sports Car Cockpit
Heavily bolstered sport seats with ideal sports car positioning hold you comfortably in place for a more direct connection to the vehicle. Controls are readily at hand, and updated dash and door panel materials make it a more involving space to be.

Multi-Function Display with Vehicle Performance Information
Performance gets smarter with an available all-new 4.2” LCD screen integrated into the instrument cluster, incorporating driver information like a digital G-force meter and lap time display.

Yooooo. Nice catch! Really taking cues from the concept.

This looks nice. Definitely going to get the Subaru if I buy new.

Take notes Toyota.

THIS is how you do it.

It literally looks like they took all the good of the facelifted model and none of the bad, and updated the first generation.

Nice! The front lip into the bumper looks gorgeous, so sick! I'm not a fan of the non drl strip under the headlights though...I wonder if the headlights will fit older BRZ's? They look nice

Sort of odd pics to be leaked. They sure do look legit (i.e. the rims) though.

I don't like the look of that shift knob. Otherwise 10/10.

Someone posted it onto a smaller club page on Facebook, I don't know where it was taken (doesn't look like a dealership since there is a Nissan R32 parked there) but there was more than one BRZ there (white and black one).

Looks way legit! And it should be no surprise to anybody that I am very sceptical about these things.

Talk about doing a refresh right! I am so impressed. This is going to blow Toyota out of the water. I actually think the steering wheel looks better with both sides accounted for. I like how the bumper remains largely unchanged. I will be interested to see how the fogs/DRL's now sit. Not sure how I feel about the faux carbon fiber everywhere (just a personal taste issue). I don't really care for the so called disconnect that occurs in the head unit dash piece that normally flows with the passenger side dash piece. I like the theoretical idea of having an infographic computer on the right side of the cluster (temp, tire pressure measurements, maybe cornering statistics, miles left before E, clearly already shows which doors are open.) However, the unfortunate part about all this is that this BRZ looks fully loaded and I can't imagine this car remaining the same price. As a matter of fact I see 35 after all docs, delivery, fees, taxes, etc. take place. I can't justify the car at that price. I think this will be true simply because with Toyota 86 reception largely remaining negative, this will skyrocket this car in the race and will offer no reason to drop price when demand is high. Moreover, if that remains the same, I believe it will make the original BRZ lose value where as the Scion FR-S stands to gain value with the new 86 announcement. Thus, I think I will keep my eyes set on getting a HyperBlue. Sorry for the rant

Well I will tell you guys what. It 3 years when I trade for one of these I will swap head and tail lights to somebody with the old ones. I do not like either of them but everything else is spot on!
And no droopy nose or overly "aggressive" bumper.
