Please dont use sharpie. I remember seeing the OP's picture and it looked horrible. If you do this please use paint or something similar like the other posters.

This is how I did it: I basically did the same thing as your DIY on painting your Scion Emblems. I sprayed 2 coats of White DupliColor primer. I then followed that up with 2-3 coats of Gloss Black DupliColor. I left it to dry over night just in case. Then I went ahead and did the red, which I used Simply Acrylic Scarlet Paint. At first I tried doing as Jeffsides did and painted with a small paint brush but my hands are not that steady and I keep messing up. So what I did instead was put down a blob of the paint in the areas that was to be red and then used a Q-Tip Cotton Swab and wiped the excess off leaving the red in the indents. I did a section at a time (inside the 86, then the circle outside, then the two lines on the pistons). After I wiped off the red there was smears on the black portions. To clean that I dipped the Q-tips in water and carefully wiped away the red that I don’t want. (Wasted a lot of Q-Tips, I used both sides once and tossed them. Did not want to drag any red) For the first piston it took me awhile (2-3hrs) because I use rolled up paper towels. I then switched to Q-tips and it worked great. The second one took me an hour but I was watching TV as well. I let it dry over night just to be sure. The next day there was still some red hazing on the black portions and water wouldn’t take it off so I used Lysol Disinfecting Cleaning Wipes, and CAREFULLY wiped the haze away. Then I put 2 coats of DupliColor Clear Coat. Done I got all the material from Wal-Mart. I don’t have any pictures of the process but here is a couple where the pistons are on my car. |

@ZeN6, Thanks for your input. I don't mind at all! My method is coming off anyway. Not much of a DIY on my part haha.
