PC? Idunno right now, they have pretty much all console games besides some exclusives. The Witcher 3 is basically a must own on pc and if you have a ps4/xboner controller, they are plug and play(if you prefer).

Mostly FPS. Halo was my shit back in the day. I like a good RPS(Final Fantasy) now and then but I just don't have the time. There will be such long breaks I'll forget where I left off. I REALLY liked the Mass Effect series but this new one just couldn't hold my attention.

Have a look at Destiny 2 or Overwatch. Pretty fun to just kick around and do w.e

I'm looking at motherboards at Newegg. For the Z370 chipset there are 116 MSI, 130 Asus plus all the rest options available. How the f*ck is one supposed to make an informed decision as to which one to get? I mean they pretty much all do a similar job. Yeah, I know there are variations but 130 choices from Asus alone!

The board you should get highly depends on what you plan on plugging into it.
Also depending on how powerful you are building, you might have to take into account the number of PCIe lanes your chosen MB/CPU has.
The GPU will pull from the CPU and the MB will provide the rest.

I cant imagine any of the boards you will come across won't have the max number of 24 PCIe lanes.

Make sure you have enough fan headers for however many fans you plan on having.
A water cooler pump plug if going that route.

I'll assume you know enough to pick the correct size of MB.

Beyond all that, pretty lights and stuff like BIOS reset and other overclocking/tweaking ease of use things you probably don't need.

TLDR;
As long as you stick to a single GPU, just find a board that has enough plugs on it to hook up everything you need.
And make sure your CPU choice has enough lanes to support the GPU.

Thanks for the tip. While some of the hardware will be overclockable I do not plan on doing so.

Don't get me wrong, I'm sure that there are plenty of perfectly fine MSI boards.
But at least in my case over the years, the person having weird MB problems 9/10 times has an MSI MB.

I believe the problem with MSI stems from bad QC.

I have to agree, that has been my experience as well. Never had a single problem with an ASUS board, but have had issues in the past with MSI from time to time.

Well that sucks. I hate trying to track down weird motherboard gremlins, or trying to deal with unexplained crashes because some component on the motherboard is failing. If I had that experience with MSI I'd probably ditch them too.

I've used Gigabyte boards previously for all my builds before this one and they've been pretty good. This was my first time going MSI and I'm happy that my experience has been positive.

I've used Asus for friends builds in the past, and I've recommended them to others! I'm sure for a future build I will give them a shot.
