Never heard of the boommat stuff, thx for pointing that out. I'm not sure I'll go this route anymore vs components. Should I go this route, one of the issues is I never hear any feedback about 3.5" speakers. The JBLs are probably as good as any other but I can't help but wonder about JL, Hertz, Rainbow, and last but not least Infinity with their rotating tweeter and external tweeter x-over.

Im running a 6.5" Hertz Mille component woofer in the door, with Focal PolyKevlar 4" mid and 1" tweeter in the dash. Took a very small amount of trimming to fit the 4" speakers in the dash. Im also not running any crossovers, just using the factory wiring so I have the same signal going to my current speakers as I did the factory speakers.

Eventually I might add a 4 channel amp to the system and will add crossovers when I do that but I am very happy with how it sounds now and would rather leave it as it is then add extra wiring and amps if I dont really need them.

I'm sure they are all decent from those brands i would just make sure its a soft dome tweeter and being able to angle it would be nice. I'm considering getting rid of my sub and doing a 2 way up front with a really beefy 6.5"-8" in the doors and a wideband 3" in the dash. There is another guy working on something similar so i'm waiting to see how big of speaker he can get in the doors.

You can fit an 8" with with right mounting adapter. 6.5" speakers look downright puny in there.

If you google speaker adapters forthe FR-S/BRZ there are some custom-made ones out there that can be made to fit an 8" woofer.

3 3/8" mounting depth might be a little deep, even with a 3/4" deep adapter. You might be able to fit a 1" deep adapter in behind the panel without interference, but I can't say for sure.

According to a google search, a 0.75 inch spacer fits perfectly yielding a total of 3.375 inches of available depth.

Yeah, I started typing my reply from memory, then jumped on google to search for the actual answer, then forgot to edit my initial statement.

I'm planning on running a complete Hertz Mille Component system. the 3" mid will be in the factory location with A pillar mounted tweets (below the airbag) which come with x-overs, active 6.5" woofers in the door run off a five channel amp single shallow 12 in the trunk. P99RS head unit. should be rocking.
