They are making you offer you can’t refuse!

Kudos for looking at buying another twin. I wouldn't blame you for being a bit jaded by the whole thing. Agree with everyone on here, sounds like a good deal. Hopefully the new one is trouble free.

In your situation, with your engine failing so often, I’d probably want a nice new car whether twin or something else. No-one needs the stress and worry about their car breaking down any moment, for the next 3-4 years it will take for the next gen twins to come on sale. And as others say, jumping into the first year of a new model is probably not the best idea, especially if you are coming from an already unreliable car! By contrast, the post 2017 twins are pretty sorted by now, most of the earlier issues have been ironed out.

Meh. They had most of the issues sorted out by the end of 13. No comfort for the guys that got the early ones though.
Between all the document issues with the first run 86/FRS/BRZ and the number of recalls my wife had on her first rum 17 Impreza I know I will never ever be an early adapter for any car again. That said there are loads of first run FRS out there where the owners have never had a single issue. I just don't like the odds.

The odds are better than buying a 2020 Corvette. First mid engine Vette with completely new engine and chassis from the General! Number of TSBs may hit triple digit

GM has a great deal for you! Buy a 2020 mid-engined Corvette and you get to be the beta tester! Have fun!

Actually, it does look like an awesome car, but largely irrelevant for those of us on average budgets and outside the USA.

Time for some negotiations. I'd take it but see if you can get a lower price. It can't ever hurt to ask.

Well, now that I think about it, the driver really didn't have anything to do with the Teslas blowing up. It was more spontaneous combustion, or car suicide, then anything the driver did. I suppose that is different....

Absolutely, after this experience with my early first gen BRZ. I will be avoiding anymore first gen cars. I planned on never getting rid of the car but with the issues I just didn't have the patience anymore for it. My car has been in and out of the dealership at least once every other week if not more since February. Mind you half the time the dealership telling me they were always out of loaners for me.

Bit late to respond to this, but thank you for not wanting to unload a car with a likely bad engine on someone who may not know better. Always glad to see people not being douches.

Also I'd go with the one with the performance pack.

Perhaps the problem cars were built on Monday’s after a weekend soaking in Saki, or Friday thinking about soaking up Saki. Or maybe Wednesday afternoon after lunch and some Saki.

Ya never know
