at idle i hear nothing so lucky me, no crickets
The pans under these cars usually do a pretty good job of keeping most of the water out but there is still plenty that can get in the engine bay. The OP isn't too far from me and we have had almost constant rain for almost two weeks now. This greatly increases the chance of a damp belt.

I have not heard any crickets since I switched to non-ethanol gas one year ago.

It's 30 miles round trip to get non-ethanol fuel at the Co-op and I think the car performs better. I actually got 360 miles out of that tank instead of the usual 320.

I was on the I5 in San Juan today in heavy traffic and there was a '15 or later next to me. Black and dirty as F and crickets chirping loudly. If I was thinking about buying an 86 and saw that whole package I'd definitely re consider. Dude at least wash your damn car.....
