"production work, mostaly the same work no matter whereyou go
they require and eye for detaila and for you to show up to work, if you can do that then your ok"

There is also a Toyota Boshoku facility in Cincinnatti, Ohio. And yeah, I was talking to somebody the other day who said they worked for Aisin/ADVICS and "it was terrible." And I asked, "Oh yeah, and why is that?" And they said, "Well, they just have much higher standards and it's hard work. They don't value time off like most Americans do." And I'm thinking... ugh, this is why we are no longer competitive with the world and have to have somebody like Trump come in and put tariffs on superior imported products to even give American companies a chance.

My one rotor plant has a worker median age of 50 and an absenteeism rate of 2% a year.
My other rotor plant has a worker median age of 26 and an absenteeism rate of 18%.
Both plants make the exact same products, at the exact same rates, with the same management team in charge. The only difference between the two are the median age.
I generally try to stay away from the whole "the younger generation is XXX" thing but the stats speak for themselves.

Yeah, well I'm only 29 myself but I definitely see it. This is a very entitled and lazy generation and it doesn't look like it will get better anytime soon. I don't have high hopes for the future...

In the past 3 years, I have "missed" 3 days of work. Missed is in quotations because 3 of those days were days where I showed up to work and my boss told me I looked sick, and that I should enjoy a day off.

Let's not paint all youngins with the same brush.

Was I not clear that I wasn't painting a whole generation with the same brush?
Of course they are not all the same. Not all my generation showed up for work everyday either but I put hard numbers down that at the very least show a trend.

Oh and I have taken 3 sick days in the last 22 years.

I've been working full time for... 3 years. I'm sure that I can go for another 19 and not be sick.

Does using up your sick days on Fridays count, since basically they're free holidays.

Using up your "sick" days is exactly what I mean. They are not damned "Free holidays" they are for when you are sick. People just need to show up for work or everything will be made in Mexico or China where they will. End of story.

Keep in mind most employers don't differentiate between the 2 anymore, or even federal holidays. I just get a set number of PTO hours that accrue over 1 year. If I don't take all of them by September 30, they're gone.

Everything will be made where it is most profitable to do so. Our wages are simply too high to be competitive in manufacturing anymore, nothing will change that.
