Since I don't buy cars to collect them, a $100,000 car will *always* be a dumb buy for me (and this is coming from an enthusiast pov). It doesn't matter if I have $200k in the bank, or $200m. I'd rather buy 10 $10k cars that serve different purposes/uses.. and that for the most part have already depreciated.
Financially responsible is such a hard thing to talk about because everyone has different views, usually stemming from when they are young.

You say "financially responsible" and most people think of a "can't" response. "I can't buy this," or " I can't go do that" because it would be financially irrisponsible.

I usually link it to "having money when you need it the most." Are you financially prepaired?

There is NOTHING wrong with buying a $100,000 car in cash. IF YOU CAN AFFORD IT ("I can make the payments" does not = I can afford it) You need to make sure the rest of your life is in balance and that you are on track toward your end goal or retirement. You have 6 months to a year of savings in a bank account, you have at least 15% of your income going into investments for retirement, your family is being taken care of.

Nothing financially irrisponsible with buying a USED car that has had most of it's depreciation happen already when every other area of our lives are in order. The key thing, ESPECIALLY with a younger forum is jumping out of college to buy a new car before you even have a job. Or buying a car when you are still living at home. Just wait! You can get it later! Get yourself set up now, bust your ass, and in 10 to 15 years, you can get whatever you want!

Just my opinion and it sounds like we differ here.

My work tells me that if I need a cell phone they'll issue me one.

But then I get in trouble because they can't contact me. Sounds like you need to issue me a cell phone, fuckers!

How do you like that UBR? Thinking about moving my VLTOR A5 RE to my SBR, selling the CTR that's on it and getting an ACS to put on the SBR, while picking up a UBR for the 16".

SBR question: The serially-controlled portion of an AR is the lower receiver, which has nothing to do with the length of the barrel. But, that's what you need when you apply for an SBR stamp, right? Is there anything preventing me from having multiple uppers with different configurations for the same SBR-stamped lower receiver? Say, a 10" barrel and a 20" barrel?

My understanding is that there's nothing stopping you, but you should retain the original configuration (upper) because otherwise it would be considered a permanent modification. You don't need to tell the ATF if you made a permanent modification (sold the original upper and using a different length), but people like to be on the good side of the law.

I was thinking to have one .308 lower receiver with two different upper receivers. One 20" heavy barrel for long distance shooting, and one 8-10" barrel because fuck yeah, tactical awesomeness! Also, a good camp gun that'll do some damage to bobcats, mountain lions, and hobos. The short barrel would drive an SBR stamp, I just want to make sure there's no real issue with swapping uppers occasionally. It's not a permanent mod, because it's seriously pulling two pins and the thing falls off. I was trying to find a POC at the ATF to ask them, but I wasn't trying that hard.
