【Questions】How to Make This BRZ Faster on Track?
Major parts:
turbochrged with 300hp, hks hipermax gt coilovers, hardrace front control arms, cusco rear lower control arms. tires: pirelli slicks dm/ds,245/620/17, running 21 psi cold/ 29psi hot weight:1300kg(regulation) alignment: front camber -4.5, rear camber -2.5, front toe out 1mm, rear toe in 1mm About the Track: 12 lap race, 2.06 miles per lap with 13 turns, 2 bumpy high speed right turns. ---------------------------- Questions: 1. looking for new coilovers, ohlins r&t or tein super racing? 2. Is alignment correct? 3. does lightweight control arms/ steering knucles do any help? 4. any other suggestions? Thank you!

Fortune Auto 510 or dreadnught series coilovers are way too good for the price. A shame not many people even give them a try (probably because of the name?). Better than R&T for your application for sure, and custom spring rates since you will need quite a bit of spring rate for those tires.
Question, are you aero limited? What are the rules regarding aero? Because that is where the cake is. Aero > everything else in most cases. |

Driver mod? How much experience do you have and have you ever been coached?
- Is that alignment set by pyro? It looks suspect. Do you have data acquisition? Video? |

1. Skip the Ohlins...they're a street oriented coilover off the shelf at least. No first hand experience with the Teins.
2. Your alignment will require some testing/measuring to dial in perfectly. Can't say if it's correct from here. 3. Less unsprung weight is good. May not be your #1 priority or best use of your budget. 4. I would suggest replacing OEM bushings wherever possible. Rear upper control arm, toe arm, etc. What areas would you like to improve? Where do you feel the car is limited? EDIT: also yeah, driver mod as CSG suggested is always helpful, and exponentially more helpful for actual wheel to wheel racing. Very different from time attack driving and just setting times. - Andrew |

no aero regulation. currently front splitter, rear wing, flat floor, rear bumper cutted Quote:
alignment set by tire temp and wear. no data acq or video Quote:
I asked this for my friend. His teammate just switched to ohlins rt,and the lap time is 2-3s faster comparing to using the previous setup which is hks hipermax gt. So he is considering the Ohlins as well. maybe 1.5 way LSD? on high speed turns oem lsd cant do nothing

Your driving sucks. But you can get better. More seat time, get an instructor.
Or... sell car buy a faster car.

Since no aero regulations, that is your ticket to victory. Add canards (functional ones, not stupid ones with obscene angles), only ones I know that are worth the money are Verus ones. Make sure your splitter has endplates (reduces drag a lot on front tires, improves grip a bit by allowing air to exit the wheel well easier). Make sure your splitter is sealed with the bumper. Just because they touch, doesnt mean air wont get thru it, either add a dam or seal it with silicone.
I have also heard good things about an LSD, but I cant recomend something I havent tried/done myself (yes I have done all of the above, one at a time, it does make a big difference, each one of those). |

LSD will probably help. Consistent data acquisition and analyis more so.
The spring rates on the new Ohlins are too soft for you, but revalved and with new springs they can be quite good. At that cost there may be better options though. Do you have a picture of your rear wing and bumper? - Andrew |

You seem to run a lot of front camber.
I have -3.2 front camber (and -2 rear camber), also on slicks and get even wear (KW competition coil overs and lowered by 1.5"). |
