Exclamation 370Z Successor....(?)

Forget the new Supra. Toyota sold out when they collaborated with zee Germans on that car. If rumors are somewhat true the driving experience will be unfortunately not as pure as we hoped.

Nissan on the other hand, may be able to give us something we want more. Unfortunately Nissan hasn't even confirmed a 370Z replacement, so there is a risk that the car is put to pasture with no replacement. But considering how hard Nissan likes to play up their sporting nature, and how important the Z is as a sports car for them leads me to believe that they will give us a new sports car.

Here's to hoping that the 370Z replacement goes on a diet, is a bit simpler, and maintains power. The V6 is nothing to dream about, but I would hope they keep 6 cylinder power in lieu of switching to a (me too) turbo 4 cylinder engine. With any luck we'll start to hear more about a new sports car within the next few months.

If you look at the Nissan vehicles that used the VQ35 and VQ37 variants (Infiniti g37) they have transitioned to both 2.0L turbo and 3.0L twin turbo engines. the 2.0 is doubtful for a new Nissan sports car (only 208hp in the Q60), but I'd bet on the 3.0 twin turbo to be a contender. It makes 300 hp in the higher spec Q60 and 400hp in the "Redsport" trim.

Considering the 2.0 liter turbo 4 is borrowed from Mercedes-Benz, and is their worst engine, I really hope that wouldn't be used for any sports car.

Here's Jay Leno, in 2012, getting a sneak peak at the next Z, set to debut sometime in 2014 or 2015.

Will it come with a manual. That's really the only thing stopping me from seriously considering the new Supra. If Nissan sticks with the manual I'll give it a try.

Nissan stopped making good cars a while ago.

So, no. Not interested in a 370z replacement.

Killing it in depreciation too.

Also, nissan offers huge rebates and cater to the sub prime market. It's easy to see how they sell a ton when "better" cars are in the same segment. IE forester, cx5....

So you are not interested in a Toyota that is a collaboration with the Germans but you are interested in a car from Nissan which is owned by the French? Hmmm.

Now, if they decide to rebadge the Alpine 110 as the new Z then they will have my attention.

So they are doing something no one else is, you are saying? Selling at high volume with low profit margins, right? Maybe that is how they went from selling less than 100,000 a year to over 400,000 a year in the US, is how you see it? And they sell them with huge rebates you say, and yet, even with a low entry price, values drop aggressively nevertheless?

Nissan as a brand overall has one of the worst depreciation rates in the market.

They're doing something other manufacturers don't really have to. Subaru doesn't have to discount the forester, they have a loyal market. Mazda doesn't have to give away the cx5, the product is quality and has a following.

Nissan caters to subprime first time buyers and are trying to establish a loyal customer base with millenials. Innovation that excites, hardly. The heyday of great nissans ended around the r34.

Nissan Rogue...5th highest selling vehicle in 2017 and second highest SUV.

Nissan Altima and Sentra are in the top 15, and are with the other top Japanese manufacturers, Toyota and Honda, as offering cars with sales in the top 15.

I wonder how many of those new cars get repossessed.

Sales numbers only do not make a good car.

This article says subprime and deep subprime loans made up 10% of new car sales. Apparently that 10% was all from Nissan?
