The Subaru Forester 2014 will come with a 2 litre direct injection turbo engine.
http://www.autoblog.com/2012/11/14/2...-drive-review/ The Forester engine is tuned at 250hp/258lbft. As you know, traditionally, the SUV engine has a lower state of tune compared to the Impreza WRX. That means you can easily expect a bit more hp and a lot more torque. I think 280lbft is easily achieved. This will most likely power the future turbo-charged 86/BRZ. Since the 86 sales are so good, there is no reason for them not to add a turbo and sell it at higher price. |

+1 on torque across the full range. Peak HP and 0-60 time are key marketing tools, but torque is where the excitement is.

you'll never get any torque with and engine this size -that has to REV to get any sort of power- without FI.
I'll take torque over HP ANY DAY. |

I don't know what bearing it has on the BRZ, but at least for the FR-S (And maybe by association the BRZ) it's up in the air what they might create from the factory. But according to my dad, who works for Toyota, Toyota is very good at saying, "No, no, no, no." And then doing it anyways. Rumors or not, they are going to say no until the very end.

There is still better reasons to sell a turbo BRZ in the future as the car looks better and thus deserves a fitting GTI/Type-R orientated version to build on this brand. Personally I do not think it will hurt the sales of STI. Because the STI is never really the popular car anyway. It is the WRX which may get poor sales. The way to get around the poor WRX sales is to improve the ugly looks of Impreza. HAHA... possibly even improve the weight distribution so that it is more MX5, BMW-3 or BRZ like. |

The new Forester (to be debuted at the Los Angelos auto show) has the new FA20 engine in Turbo form for the XT model. Automobile magazine has a new review of it online.
The problem with a turbo in the BRZ is space. It could possibly happen but there is nothing official and as some have posted already, several Subaru sources have said no Turbo is planned. An STI BRZ seems to be in the plans, but nothing about Turbo, just a lot of extra add on parts. I previously owned a BMW M Coupe (Hardtop notchback built on the Z3 chassis with 315HP). The BRZ is a similar type of car but has much more stablity and control. The more power this car has the less successful it will be in any SCCA series (due to classification) or even autocrossing, which I belive is the purpose of this car. I loved the M coupe, but I could not match the times of an STI on an autocross track, only certain road course race tracks. The tighter the track the more the M Coupe suffered from it's power. Simply the difference between a high horsepower rear drive car and an similar HP all wheel drive car on a tight circuit. I expect that I could set much better times in my BRZ. This car was designed for a certain purpose and marketing slot. In my opinion it has met that goal. If it is going to be turbocharged, I expect it to be from Subaru tuning companies, like Cobb or many others, but not from the factory. I could be wrong, but I expect that Subaru would not emphatically state no factory turbo is coming, just to announce it a bit later. It is not thier usual style. They will not Turbo this car. All the components are weak.
It will compete with the WRX. It will compete with the New Supra. This is an entry level sports car that is over priced. |

Then why the hell are you on these forums, anyway? GTFO if you're just going to bash the car. You're just asking for trouble.
