Well I don't know enough routes in East Bay to lead a decent legnth drive unfortunately. I'm down for Sunday but have the same time constraints still (Stockton by 1pm).

I could give out stars if you arent there though

So far, the weekend is a toss-up (weekend sched may change), so not sure which day will be open. Current preference is Sat early morning. I'd be ok with a later start, but that also means others (ie cyclists) will already be on the road .

If nobody steps up and my schedule is free, I'd be willing to lead the group (which means no fast balsts since I'm a slow poke). Do I get to give myself an extra star for leading?

ok it sounds like a general preference for going forward on Saturday still.
If you are down with leading, I'll let you pick out the start time, place, and route. And if you guys end up at Orinda for breakfast maybe I can still make it out there to join you guys for some corned beef hash after I drop off the wife.

I like the idea of an extra star for leading! Encourages others to step up and lead as well (if they're comfortable and familiar with the roads), and if nothing else, it means I get more stars too.

I think that I'll finally be able to come out and meet some people. Early, somewhere in the East Bay, and either morning works great for me.

I drove Pinehurst down and back on my lunch hour today and a cyclist in the opposite lane yelled IDIOT! at me as I drove by him. Fun times.

Alright, I guess I'll step up and lead the group. Keep in mind, I'm usually the slow poke that hangs out in the back, so this will be more a "brisk cruise" than a full on blast.

This is what I had in mind
Route: https://goo.gl/maps/45RGTPxrgyJ2
Meet at Niles Canyon Railway parking lot in Sunol @ 7am, promptly leave at 7:30am
Work our way east on 84, up Palomares, into Castro Valley, up Redwood, Skyline and Grizzly Peak and Wildcat canyon. Depending on interest, we can either have breakfast at Village Inn cafe in Orinda or say our farewells and go our separate ways onto 24.

I may add a couple of stops along the way, depending on how much parking is available. This will be a relatively short drive since I need to be back around 10/11, so should last around 1.5-2 hrs
