My new rear-seat subwoofers
Hey everyone just figured I'd post the latest ICE mod I've done to my 86.
Spent all of last weekend building this, subs arrived today and I couldn't have been more excited, or more satisfied by the sound. I used to run a 12" Kenwood sub in the boot and on first impressions I couldn't really tell much of a difference in sound between them.. Although I reckon 80-120hz frequencies are clearly more defined. I'm extremely happy with the setup, I get 90% of the bootspace, with a still-usable back seat - It still folds flat - and no noticeable downgrade in sound quality. Subs are Kicker Kicker CWRT671's running in a sealed custom 16l/0.56ft3 mdf box. Still need to add grills and carpet the box. Vid: |

Ok this is rad as hell. I put some Dayton 7 inch subs in my doors and along with the Pioneer headunit really helped, but it’s a far cry from my 15” IB setup in my old car.
If you put grilled on the speakers to protect the cones when you fold it it would be awesome.

i acquired the parts a while back to make an IB rear seat with some of these, but they turned out to be too deep for the rear seat cushion area-- ran too much of a risk of damaging the speakers if i folded the seat down. so i'm keeping my peerless xxls 10" taking up trunk space.
