I don't have a middle name. My story is always "it cost extra to file one and my parents couldn't afford it" but based on your tale maybe they were trying to tell me all hope was lost....

Try it sometime when you don't typically take out car loans like me. I'd basically be saying that as soon as I drove off the lot.....

Then again, sometimes I do....

the BRZ was my first car payment. I only bought cars cash until then. but at that point I wanted something brand new that I knew I wouldn't have to fix at all for at least 3 years. it's been really good to me so far.

Car sales have slowed down a lot recently. Wait another 12 months or so. You might be able to get a screaming bargain.

waiting that long would really be the best thing for me to do anyways. seems like this is just another good reason.

No one NEEDS a brand new car but...
If you can get what you want at a very, very low rate why not? It's not like your money would be earning a huge amount in a standard account.
Over the last dozen years or more the most the wife or I have paid was .9% Heck she's had several cars at zero percent. My tS is costing me $500 over 48 months. FIVE Hundred paltry dollars, and that's Canadian dollars! That's why I jumped at it!

My wife is an accountant in the automotive (RV) sales field. Since I receive mileage payments that cover the price of my new cars in about two years she has figured out some way of combining the finance costs with investments where we end up making money by financing new cars. I make no claim as to knowing what or how she does it but the longer the finance term the more money we make. Not talking millions of dollars or anything but a couple of hundred bucks over the contract is still better than nothing.

Way back in the day when I worked for a place that provided me a company car I was able to make money on it a couple of times. I would drive the car for the lease, then they would offer to sell it to me for the end of lease price which was less than market value. I bought the car, then sold it at market value. I'd make $1,500 or so on the transaction, but that was a fortune to me at the time.

You mean just in finance charges?

Or, if that's to total cost of ownership - I'll take two -
