Lawl. Very constructive.

And no, I much prefer ideas get around then stay secluded in dark basements.

I'm surprised just how close our example numbers were too, 235 and 230, down to 210. I'd almost thought maybe you read my post and reiterated.

27yr old male hopes auto makers are reading this

car companies don't make performance value cars because people who know cars won't pay more than they know the car is worth=less profits for car makers. luxury cars and girly cars make the best profit margins for auto companies. ie volkswagen beetle/mini/suvs... no rear wheel drive cars under $22k.

I know it's all speculation, but here's my 2 cents worth...

I'll be 32 in 2012, and honestly target demographics mean squat to me as long as the car is done right. What I don't want to see is Toyota cut the balls off the car, like Honda did with the CR-Z. That thing went from a promising sporty hybrid to a ball-less insight clone. Heck, it's speed is similar to the Prius. Way to kill a car...

At any rate, I'd like to see a turbo option. I have a 92 MR2 Turbo, and I love it. I could care less it gets worse gas milage than the NA version, or it costs more. I was willing to pay the difference when I bought it used. I wanted the extra power and speed.

I understand that cutting emissions may not mean a drastic decrease in power. If they want to go that route, cut emissions and increase gas mileage, fine. What I'd like to see is the 2 teired trim approach they had with the MR2: The gas saving, emissions friendly NA version...and the Turbo version.

If they make a Turbo version, I'm in. If it's only an NA, it has to be a poweful NA with some balls, otherwise I'll be getting an Evo IX/X, STi, or 370Z...after all, I have my MR2 for the sports car fix.

It's all speculation at this point, so I have a list 6 cars deep which I'm willing to get, in case cars like the FT086 fall by the wayside in terms of what it delivers.

I'd like to get a new Toyota sports car to pair with the MR2, but if they take away the cars balls...I'll look elsewhere for a new car. I think Toyota should offer a higher priced Turbo version of the car that has has some power, but that's me. They did that with the MR2, they did that with the Supra, Mazda did it with the FC RX-7, why not do it with the FT-86.

If they put Suburu Boxer engines in the production versions of the FT-86 (like it's rumored will happen), shove a high powered boosted motor like the STi's motor under the hood of a higher priced Turbo version, and charge me more if need be. If they do that, I'll be at the dealership buying an FT-86 on day one.

If they go with the 2 tiered trim line approach (the less expensive NA, the higher priced Turbo), the higher age demographic could work out in the end. After all, 40-something people generally are in a better financial situation that 30 something people, so it could help sell the car without upsetting the younger crowd (think 370Z, WRX vs STi, RalliArt Turbo vs Evo X, etc).

....is it just me or do the rest of feel like this is starting to become a broken record too?
We get a new guy on here who thinks for a car to be sporty or fun or "have balls" it HAS to have a turbo or high horsepower numbers, tell him thats not what its about, he gets pissed, and leaves.... just my 2 cents worth

I agree too.

It supost to be a fun N/A affordble drivers car.

Funny thing is the best car ive ever driven is my factory very original 1973 Subaru 1400 GSR.
Its has a factory 1400cc NA twin carb motor rated at 93bhp motor and is front wheel drive.
It handled very well, was fast but not high on power but it was very fun to drive.

just because they have a target market doesn't mean other age groups can't purchase. target audience is irrelevant.

Heh,40 is the new 20. Guess I'll fit right in. I'm just gonna have to wait for a used FT-86,depreciation can be a good thing when you're on my budget.
