Yes there will be 500 whp options in the future. Engine management is currently stalling things a little but we should have the Hydra EMS available shortly which will be ideal for high HP builds.

While 500 whp is not practical we'll be there with our FRS race car so you could at the very least follow our lead and watch our development. At this point however nobody knows what the failure points are of various components but to do this we know at the very least forged rods and forged pistons plus a clutch capable of holding that power level.

While it will not be cheap to do this it's not going to cost anymore than taking a WRX to 500 whp.

Hooking up 500 whp well that's another story but where there's a will there's a way

I'm shooting for the 350-400whp sector. I think that'll be a great balance for the type of driving that I plan on doing. People shooting for high numbers need to think realistically what the vehicle is going to be used for. There's no reason to have 500+whp if you can't effectively use it

500hp would be madness in this car.

Hell .. 350 would be a handful.

I don't think this kid realizes just how much power that is on a car this light. 260-290 WHP would be plenty for this car for DD.

500 HP in this car is going to invite a tree into your passenger seat, not panties.

... um, wat? Unless you've got some other cars that we don't know about, I'm gonna go ahead and say you've got no business behind the wheel of a 2800lb, 500hp automobile, sir.

Here's a car with a similar power:weight ratio. If you can pilot this thing without killing yourself, you can color me impressed.

I still haven't seen the last entry in the Fast & Furious series... maybe I should go watch that and get some ideas!

You guys act like the fastest race cars in the world aren't high power, light, and real wheel drive first off 2800 lbs isn't that light so if my STi is 2900 lbs and puts out 673 whp you get what I'm personally going for.

Now putting down the HP will be tough but is it really any different than any other car trying to put down a lot of hp? It will be pretty straight forward getting a 285 slick under the rear but wider will require substantial pulling, stretching, flares, or a widebody.

Instead of detracting someone from the idea, embrace it, as the more we push this platform the more popular it will be and therefore more aftermarket support for all hp levels.

I wholeheartedly agree with you that there are cars out there that can handle that power effectively. I also agree that this vehicle will be able to. I just don't see why people will be chasing high hp numbers, when really they should be focusing on building the car for their specific needs, so that they can get the most out of the platform for their driving characteristics.

If you're planning on drag racing it, fine go for the high hp and tq numbers. If you plan on doing any other type of racing, I would focus more on finding a hp number that will suit your driving style well, while also working on making the rest of the car function well. Remember, this car was designed for the OVERALL DRIVING EXPERIENCE

I would stick with your Chevy Traverse cause i heard the power on that is plenty.

Right of course the whole package matters and its the only way it will be drivable. I personally think this car is worth throwing tons of money at I'm optimistic at putting down 500 hp for road racing but I'm pretty sure I'll be running programmable traction control via the Hydra EMS. I think without that there will be too much drifting and therefore slower lap times.

In street car trim 400 HP will be plenty scary LOL!
