Supercharged GT 86/FR-S/86 vs. Turbocharged BRZ

Far from confirmed but might be fun to speculate for now.

1. What HP do you expect from each?
2. What chassis upgrades have to happen?
3. When should they hit the market?
4. Price point?
5. Supercharger v. turbocharger v. NA debate. Enlighten the FI-illiterate (me)... and why would Toyota supercharge and Subaru turbocharge?

Because turbocharging would really need to be done on the production line.

It's much easier to just bolt a supercharger on, post production.

About 250 would be nice, stock, from the turbo im not sure how comparibly the SC's compare

Bigger brakes - stiffer front suspension

3. When should they hit the market?
whenever the next gen wrx is ready :P - I'm going for the GT-86 with the wing (as shown above) but would rather a turbo than SC because that's what boxer's should have IMO - so I guess for now I would be getting the NA and down the line possibly sourcing a Turbo crate engine... unless the SC does come as a bolt on that you can put on 3/4 months down the line - like FIAT do with the Abarth esse-esse kit

4. Price point?
about £5k for a crate engine I guess from subaru to drop in to the 86 chassis - I'm guessing £28k would get you a gt-86 with a SC (if it becomes a reality)

5. Supercharger v. turbocharger
Turbo for me - personal preference i guess, I just associate the boxer with a turbo... Both would be nice though, like the VW polo GTi 1.4 TFSI or Lancia delta hf integrale :P

turbo, if possible. So i can still put some decent gas mileage when im commuting

Im hoping they went really conservative on the tuning to get good gas emissions.
so hopefully simple bolt-ons + ecu tune will unleash big gains.

for scion they'll never make a separate model with a SC, but i could definitely see a TRD SC option in the future...

NA for me. I prefer NA power delivery and lightweight nimble cars. Add boost and everything else has to get bigger too.

Same but it's going to happen until the cars are out.

These power hungry guys will likely go for a genesis and the rest of us will be perfectly happy with the 200hp car.

I'd really take either, with preference for whichever one had more power (and potential for making more power), but since I marginally like the looks of the FR-S more than the BRZ, I'd lean towards that.

My guess is the turbo BRZ will be an uber-expensive Sti variant, and may or may not be worth the extra cash over the SC FR-S.
