Cold dry roads

Are a blast on Conti EWC's. A little bit of moisture on them makes it sketchy but cold and dry is giggly good fun. I hope some of the rest of you have had a chance to get out on some nice twisty back roads recently. I get to work every morning with a grin on my face

Holy crap - my GY Asymmetric 2's might as well be flintstone wheels in these temps (been around 10-20 degrees here. Hard as rocks - and they break loose at will in first (sometimes in 2nd!), gotta pay attention. I think the salt on the roads makes it worse.

Hey! I've been working part time at the ski shop in Westport since the beginning of December. I will probably be there on Wednesday, stop in and say hey.

You've got to try different tires, the ones you're on are obviously the wrong choice

Yeah need those winter tires.... My Conti DWS are fine in snow but these 0 degree temps make them useless lol.

Hah! Small world - will definitely try to stop by. Yeah my tires are ridiculous - I'm surprised as they're not even the 'extreme' class of street tires. But the compound plus the heavy salt dust makes it so I literally have to granny it everywhere - and it's not like my car is some powerhouse lol. When I get around to it I'll probably just slap my stock bridgestones/wheels back on to get by.

been using hankook ipike rs snow tires the past 4 winters and they're great. they're soft, squishy winter tires, but they've been good to me with snow, ice, rain, and cold dry roads. once the temperature starts consistently nearing daily highs of 50° it's over though, i feel like i can hear the layers of rubber just wearing off the tires haha.

If my car could talk, it would be saying WTF as it looks out its heated garage windows. Every time I go in the garage I can swear I hear it saying Thank you for not taking me out in this crap NY weather.
And right after saying Thank you to me, it laughs at my Pickup sitting out in the drive way saying sucks to be you.

Not gonna be there tomorrow, Thursday is a maybe depending on the weather. They have a couple of stores and there is more ski tuning work at the Ridgefield store right now so I'll be there tomorrow. I'll let you know the next time I'll be down in Westport if not Thursday.
