Same for me. I'm leaving here in a few minutes. Going through Marble Falls toward Kerrville. Will stop in Fredricksburg for some Schnitzel.

That was awesome. I think I saw a total of 4 other vehicles on the road. Had it all to myself. Nice and wet, but not too slick. I'll be doing that again.

Yes, Medina is Arabic for "city", but....

"The Medina River was named after Pedro Medina, a Spanish engineer, by Alonso de León, Spanish governor of Coahuila, New Spain in 1689. It once served as the official boundary between Texas and Coahuila with the San Antonio River being considered its tributary. At that time, the river was called the Medina all the way to the Gulf of Mexico, but now the part below the confluence is called the San Antonio River."

...and the town is named after the river.

It seems the surname Medina is from the Islamic rule of Spain. There are a lot of words in Spanish which have Arabic origins because of this.
It's interesting to see that influence even extends to English speaking Texas.

Absolutely, lots of middle Eastern influences. The Texas town of Palestine comes to mind immediately. It would not be the least bit surprising to find that our Medina namesake came from the part of Spain that was "Moorish" and that the name derives from the Arabic word.

Also, I LOVE the Medina river valley, one of the prettiest stretches in Texas.

You may enjoy this if you haven't seen it. I'd never considered visiting Spain until I watched it.

The other pure history shows on hulu are also good. There's one on Islamic art that was AWESOME.
