Same here - I check 'New Posts' most often so I get to see just about all the posts. That's how I found this one.

I agree, the FRS and BRZ sections should not be split up.

Only thing I could think to improve is make the quick links tab more in your face as a big button or something so new users know that's where the stuff you want is hiding.
Thank you for pointing this out

I use New Posts almost exclusively. The only thing I'd like to see is a way to filter for sale ads in or out of what it brings up. It would be nice to hit new for sale ads for say, wheels/tires only without having to navigate there, or even to just filter for sale ads out of the search altogether.

Other than that, there's nothing wrong here. There are far too many posts to concentrate them all in one area and expect the average user to keep up with them all.

Thanks for the "New Posts" idea. I will check that out. For now, I have been going to General and it's always a ghost town that belies the true level of activity this forum generates.

This is a very curious forum in that is seems like it had massive activity back in 2012/2013. It seems like most posts from Google searches are from that era. Then a lull since there's nothing really left to do.

It's like some sort of bathtub curve. Huge activity in anticipation of the car and the first year of it. I suspect as these cars reach the 10 year mark, there will be renewed DIY activity as these all become 100k to 200k mile cars.

The initial peak makes perfect sense. This is (or was) a very social forum in the couple of years after that peak though and was incredibly active even if not much was getting accomplished. I have noticed a decline in that social aspect in the last year or so though. A lot of that may be due to the simple fact that the car has now become cheap enough that the demographic has changed to people that use social media for chatting and expect the forum to just answer questions for them. The thing is that most of those questions either can't be answered or have been answered so many times that many of the long term users just got bored and moved on.
You can only read "Is this a good deal?", "What is your insurance rate?" and "I am new what mods are best?" so many times before you lose interest.

Some maybe and many have moved on to different platforms. Think it has more to do with the overall tone that the place has taken on than anything though.

Even though I am new, I noticed the latter effect as I went back and read through whole threads that were started 2-4 years ago. I also noticed that many threads now, even those with a specific focus, wander off into off-topic at the drop of a hat.

Only in the general section since the odds are the thread has been repeated 1,000 times already. If the topic is strong enough the thread usually goes back on topic. If not it just becomes a playground or dies a natural death. The tech sections usually stay focused.

All this "forum" talk.

When I started I was mostly restricted to Yahoo Groups and an actual email distribution list.

We had two lists: "General", and "Tech". The tech list was moderated manually.
