So I got the right person.

100 miles of 'test driving' with 'let 'er rip' as a mantra may be something to look for. For your consideration: Most dedicated drift/autox/race cars have much less milage than their street counterparts. Was each drive warmed up or hooned upon when cold? Not much of a problem, but your question above could easily be flame-ready material for those who are super-uber-finickity. Get the car.

It's up to you, but $24k OTD is a $3,000 discount and I'd probably do it.

Update: The 24K OTD is a myth. DOES NOT EXIST.

First off, scion doesn't negotiate price. They won't budge because my salesmen is not scion certified and he got pimp slapped by his manager. Manager took over. the price is 27K OTD.

Now I don't mind that price but the 24K is what sold me because I was gonna use the extra 3K to buy mods. Also, the color (raven) was not my first love and if I'm gonna buy something out of my price range, it better be the car that I want.

To make it worse, they ordered leather seats and were gonna put that on this and charge a 3K premium. I told him, he is OUT OF HIS MIND because that's BRZ territory and good luck doing that. He was gonna not order the leather, i bought it then.

The other problem: they wanted 16k for me EVO. And that's a no, they eventually moved it up to 19K. but the initial 16k offer was like a slap in my face. Look i know this car is fun, i drove and had so much fun. But my EVO is unmodded 40k and in perfect condition. The open market will eat 16K alive and i expect these guys trying to sell it for 25k? yeah no way on that.

When you combine the budgeting price with a trade in value under par. Combined with my loan that I own. My car payment loan is 19K. Now that wouldn't be a problem but I'm going to pay my evo off in about 20 months. So i see no way I would buy this.

And the fact that the price is no budging, I should just wait and find the version I do want.
They lost all leverage power after they set the fixed price.

Sad. because I really did enjoy the car, i even drove it again today. But 19k to 21k loan. Might as well go with a 30K loan and get an m3. (which is one of my dream cars).

I asked for 24K out the door but then I decided to try to get 26K out the door. The one thing that I didn't factor in was warranties. Here's a breakdown of what I paid for my silver fr-s 6 speed manual:

cash price of vehicle $26,436.00
taxes and fees $2,718.55
trade in credit for my car -$2,475.00
warranties and lojack $3,947.88
total car price $30,627.43

I put a down payment of $5000 so it ended up being $25,627.43 that I owed after that. I wanted to open a thread to discuss whether or not I'm wasting money by getting the warranties.

I extended the "bumper to bumper" warranty from 3 years 36,000 miles to 8 years 125,000 miles for $2065, I extended the Maintenance warranty from 2 years 25,000 miles to 5 years, 60,000 miles for $533, got LoJack for $697, GAP coverage for $499, and the taxes for those items was $155.88. I wanted to make a topic to discuss whether or not I should cancel these warranties but I'm probably too new here to post a new topic. I'm definitely planning on keeping the car for many years, but I'm gonna be keeping it stock the whole time as far as I know.

Any input? I can still return the warranties.

I originally wanted the ultramarine or raven color but they didn't have that in MT so I got the silver color instead :-/. At least it still looks pretty nice. I hope the OP got what he/she wanted

damn man i feel like i got my car the cheapest on this forum. i got mine for exactly 24,200 obviously plus tax = about 26XXX OTD i also traded my 95 E36 M3 in and knocked the price down to under 19k, 5 year warranty we all get the boost service for oil changes and stuff like that. Ultramarine 6MT. complimentary ipod holder a bunch of keychains.

im kind of appalled that people are paying over 30 for this car in different states thats effed.
the main selling point is its under 30k for a sports car that is fun great handling good on gas cheap to fix. reliable.

main reason why i didnt go with the subaru version, if im spending 30+ on a subaru im buying an STI. though i must say after sitting in a 2013 sti im disappointed in the seats. the FRS/BRZ seats hold you in WAY better im not exaggerating. i love the seats in the 04/05 STI they are great and for some reason the seats in the SRT4 are fabulous.
but the '13 STI and WRX need a revision on the seats they are too open. i slide everywhere like i feel like the seats were made for 275LBS + people. i fit like a glove in the FRS seats these have to be some of the best seats ive sat in.

We are lucky in oregon, no tax's... but with my wife's college grad discount, and no tax in oregon, I think I paid the least you could possibly pay for a fr-s... exactly 24k out the door.

I'm kind of feeling the same way as you are... I bought mine cash, no trade in, so there is a difference there... but I got mine on launch day for $24200 +taxes/license... and was out the door for $26K.

For extended warranty costs, just think about it: When will you EVER need to fix anything non-wear-and-tear related that will cost you $2,000 or more? Don't let the "possibilty" of something major going wrong scare you, especially with a Car maker that has a proven history of making reliable cars.

First off, if anything major breaks on a new car, it will most likely break within the first few months of ownership.. and that's covered under the standard 3-year warranty. Secondly, by the time your 3-year warranty is expired, I'd bet you'd be able to save more than $2K on your own to cover any repairs that your car might need. Third, you're buying a Subaru/Toyota car, so unless it's a lemon (which again, something will go wrong within the first few months), it should be fairly reliable for a long time.. long past any extended warranty you could ever buy for it. Especially if you plan to keep it stock like you said.

You should've check your local bank or credit union before getting the GAP insurance too.. I got my GAP at my credit union for $200 only. You don't have to get GAP at the dealership.

As for the lojack, that really depends on where you live and park your car. Personally, if my car ever got stolen, I hope the thief totally destroys it so I can get my insurance to re-imburse me for the entire cost of the car

I would recommend you refund/return the extended warranty at least, but it's up to you. Good luck with it and congrats on the car!
