I was wondering if anyone has tried or if it’s even possible to take the stock wrx turbo kit and use it on an 86? Fitment etc

think the wrx turbo mounting style is a bit different than our cars. You'll probably run into some fitment issues and customer fab work. Will be better off getting a starter turbo kit from SBD or JDL for the cost.

They have different engines ans it will not fit

You can use the turbo and intercooler but it will need custom piping and matching tune etc. Might just be easier to get specific bolt on kit for the FA20. Many out there
