You CAN do that and still be married - you just have to take it off before the wife comes home -

Garage
In the area of cats away, I found that washing wire wheels in the dishwasher worked well, grease in the hub did leave a ring around the col---inside.

The first one is a 15 mile drive and around 30-40 minutes to get to, but is at least related to the IT field. I've also been told that there is plenty of downtime, enough to do whatever (in my case, study for exams). I also get health insurance as well.

The second one is much closer to me, about a 3 mile drive (less on gas), and will pay me slightly more, but is not at all related to the IT field and is much more strenous in nature and benefits aren't available until probably 6 months down the line.

My family is telling me to go for the second job for its proximity to me, but I want the first job since I feel it will be the job that will get me into the IT industry and allow me to gain experience to move up. I can't see myself growing in the food industry. I'm treating this situation like buying a part for my car: I want to know I'm getting the best.

What a dilemma to be in, but at the same time, it's such a wonderful feeling knowing I've been doing things right to even be put in this spot to begin with.

So guys, old and new, have you been put in a similar situation? What did you do, and what advice do you have for me? Should I take Job 1 or Job 2?

Thanks for the responses guys. I'm looking forward to my future.
a better question is why is it any sort of worthwhile to take the initially higher paying job with no benefits, and something you don't want to do for the rest of your life?

i wouldn't recommend any job for anyone that doesn't offer an opportunity for advancement in both experience and pay unless that person is dead-set on making it big in their spare time inventing alternative uses for pool noodles or something. the food industry is rough. speaking very generically, there is typically very little upward movement from any position, and there is barely any capacity in the finances to pay significantly better either, meaning if you're doing it, it's to because you enjoy the people, and are at your very wits end not being able to find a job in a field that better suits your preferences and skill set.

What the hell is wrong with some of you people - ain't you never heard of a steam cleaner! -

When I was young, I couldn't imagine putting a greasy transmission in my mothers sink and washing it with borax -

Garage
I used to wash motorcycle cylinders, cases, and heads in the sink. The only thing that got me in trouble was swiping my mom’s hair dryer and leaving it all greasy in the garage. That was a big no-no.

I'll bet she was glad when you finally moved out of the house -

What did you use her hair dryer for?

Dishwashers make great parts cleaners as long as you don't go overboard.
