How many quarts of engine oil for cars with oil coolers

I was wondering how much engine oil is needed for cars with oil coolers. I have the perrin one. in a review for the perrin oil cooler, the writer stated 7quarts, seems like a bit much.

Usually you'll want to add 1 additional quart for the PERRIN oil cooler. The car takes 5 quarts for a normal oil change, so be sure to have 6 quarts handy if you're doing an oil change, thanks!

5.5-5.7 quarts depending on if you are doing filter change.

I usually do 6 quarts outright and it has been fine for 25k miles with many track events.

You're right! I just did an oil change this last weekend, and it took 5 with a filter. YMMV I guess.

You can make the dipstick easier to ready by sanding down the end where the oil is, all the way up to the "Full" level.

I should caution that 6 quarts is a bit on the full side, if you are doing everything by the book please try to add what is needed to fill up, but nothing more. Part of the fluid capacity assumes a dry crankcase; actual experience will tell you that you usually drain most, but not all the oil in the engine.

I agree. That 0w-20 is so watery thin and clear that when it's new it's really hard to read on the dipstick.

Depending on the oil cooler, it's possible that the added capacity will NOT drain. So an oil change will be the same as a car without a cooler.

That's right, for a new install, you'll want an extra quart though.
