You can buy the cable for $15 on eBay, and run the TechStream software on a Windows XP machine (or VMWare). The option to disable the seat sensor is there. I did it myself when I installed heated seats. It also disables the airbag light from coming on.

So its just $15? Or do i gotta buy the software also? will this keep the airbags on or does it just get rid of the light? and what if the car is ecutek tuned, can this still be done?

Does doing all this still allow the airbag to deploy if you crash?

I doubt insurance would cover medical for a passenger if you modified the car for the airbag to not deploy.

Techstream is the same software the dealerships use to do this mod upon request. I figure it's safe for the airbag setup.

That said, it's wickedly powerful software that could brick your car if misused

You can turn off the seatbelt ding/chime with a smartphone app called Carista and an OBDII bluetooth adapter. (You should be running one of these adapters anyway to monitor vitals like oil temp, read/reset codes, etc.)

Carista is "free" and reads codes, does some monitoring, but if you want to change factory settings like those seat chimes, Daytime Running Light on/off, one-press unlock all doors, etc, you have to pay $10 in the app to unlock it all.

After that get the Torque app to monitor vitals and all kinds of cool stuff.

It's up to $19.99 on Android but I can confirm it works.

I was about to purchase the Carista app but found instructions to do it using a terminal app like hyper terminal or putty (I used putty). I got the instructions on a prius forum but I can confirm that it worked for my 2014 FR-S. I did this last night actually. You need an ELM327 to USB cable (had one laying around but they can be found on ebay fairly cheap). The instructions on the other forum said to set the baud rate to 115200 but I could only get it working at 38400. Try different baud rates if you see gibberish when you type.

Enter the following commands:
AT SH 7c0 (hit 'Send')
Returns: OK

21a7 (hit 'Send')
Returns: 61 AC C0 (meaning beep enabled)

3ba700 (hit 'Send')

21a7 (hit 'Send')
Returns: 61 AC 00 (meaning beep disabled)

That's it! The driver's side seat belt warning won't beep anymore (I haven't tested the passenger side, but I imagine there's a separate command for that). I believe the settings cycle so if you wanted to re-enable it, I imagine you'd just have to re-enter the same commands again, but don't quote me on that as I haven't tested it. You could probably follow these instructions on an android device if you have a bluetooth OBD2 adapter and a terminal app. I have an iPhone and couldn't find an app that would let me send commands.
