+1. That said, I don't know anybody that would protest over the pointless dead weight factory aero at a local event. Heck, unless you're dominating at nationals I doubt anyone would care.

It sure appears to be legal to me. Poly bushing instead of the fancy bearing like SPC. It doesn't come with toe correction bushings though, which kinda sucks.

you can't use the bushings in STx and you don't need them.

I assume you mean the toe correction bushings... Why can't you use them? Because they're eccentric or because of higher metal content?

Steering wheel mod

If you have questions on what may or may not be legal ... Post away.. there are quite a few 'experts' here on the site that will be available to help you understand what your getting into..

Some General Rules to consider:

-The Car is classed in STX Class, Which has a pretty big following since most of the mods that are allowed are pretty much the mods your doing anyways..
-STX is a Street Tire Class.. so your tires have a minimum of 140 treadwear, and they can be no wider than a 265 on a 9in wheel.
-Suspension Swaps are allowed....Springs Swaybars, Coilovers, and Bushings...
-Exhaust mods are allowed including the Header, overpipe, Midpipe and catback with an aftermarket system...the only stipulation is that you must have a cat in your system.. you can Delete the Factory Cats and replace it with a Hi-flo unit as long as its within 6 in of the furthermost cat (the back one)...
-Any Intake System can be used as long is it mounts to the OE Throttle body.
-Any Engine management Can be used to achieve optimum tune
-Aftermarket BBK as long as they are the same size or larger than stock. Brake Lines can be changed to Stainless with any fluid.
-Lightweight battery as long as it puts out the same voltage. and you can re-locate it if needed to the trunk area.
-Engine and tranny mounts as long as they are NOT solid
-Any LSD.
-Any Seats can be used but there is a minimum weight.(25lbs for the whole assy)

What CAN'T BE DONE:
-no engine internals
-no Tranny/rear diff Gear changes
-no throttlebody work
-Radiators have to comply with Stock

This should get most of your started. have any questions.. Don't hesitate to post them up.. Glad to help

Bill
Good review man! I'm working on preparing for this upcoming season, but I have a modded steering wheel deleting the airbag. I'd prefer to not believe that would kick me straight into the SM very competitive class... But there are no amends for this mod in any other category for the FRS. I was thinking CSP might class it this year... Jury is still out.

Any comments on that mod?

Thanks!

Put the stock wheel back on, or local regions can add supplemental rules/exemptions so talk with your local region and just race there.

Steering wheels will be open in 2016 for Street Touring. From the Nov. Fastrack:

Quote:
ITEM 12)
#16978
Replace Solo® Rules Section 14.2.D (page 81):
“Any steering wheel may be used. An alternate steering wheel assembly, including all mounting hardware, which replaces an airbag-equipped wheel is not required to have an airbag but must weigh at least as much as the standard assembly. An alternate wheel is not required to have a horn button.”

Radiators will be more open (finally)

Quote:
Add a new section L to Section 14.10 (page 89):

Engine cooling radiators may be replaced with alternate parts subject to the following restrictions:
1.Radiator core dimensions (width, height, thickness) cannot be smaller than the standard part.
2.Radiator must mount to OE radiator mounts.
3.Fluid capacity and dry weight of the radiator must be no less than that of the standard part. Installation of an alternate radiator may serve no other purpose (e.g., to allow a cold air intake passage).”

SCCA Fastrack News August 2015 Page 4

Otherwise, some classing changes, and the wheel / tire limits changing in STU.

November Fastrack

December Fastrack

I can't remember much discussion around the radiator one, it doesn't say anything about shrouds. Do you think an alternate radiator+shroud such as a the FBM one would be considered legal?

I have a question for those of you running 17x9 RPF1's and coilovers. Which offset is considered better for Autocross, +35 or +45? I'm currently running +35's because I was on stock struts, but now I'm on RCE T2's and am thinking about going to the +45's. It just seems like they fit better, but not sure if there would be any issue with rubbing up front when adding camber. Seems like there would be enough room though.

FWIW I'll be doing +35 for BBK fitment down the road. I see plenty of people using +45 without issue though.

The thread for the wheel notes that the wheel may rub on a tie rod at full lock but can be solved via a spacer effectively making the wheel +42 or +40 seems to be the best solution I've seen, but you may not be comfortable running a spacer on stock lugs (I've seen at least one wheel come off this year, guy only had like three threads on the lug), you shouldn't be at max lock on an autox course so it's probably a minimal problem in practice.

RCE's have narrow springs so you're probably safe on that front.
