Kenzo's 2018 GT86

Hello, I'm a new member from Belgium and this will be my first post on this forum.

In January 2021 I bought a 2018 GT86 with 28.xxx km's and have driven around 10 000 km's so far and I'm absolutely loving it.
I did 2 wet driftdays with the car last year. One on the skidpad of Circuit Zolder and one on the small track of Weeze. The 86 was still completely stock then and I was amazed how easy it is to control this car.

Uprades list:

Engine:
- HKS Legamax Sports s-tail exhaust

Suspension:
- Bilstein b14

Brakes / Wheels / Tires
- WedsSport tc105x 17x8 et42
- Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric 6 / 225/45r17
- Stoptech Sport brake pads & Stoptech grooved rotors

Here are some pictures:

Great idea with wet drift days, haven't seen those around. Although we have snowy winters here . I was surprised how easy it is to slide, even on dry asphalt on track i could probably do it with my eyes closed

Welcome aboard.

Once you start driving this car it gets a bit addictive.

How are you liking the B14?

How would you compare it to the stock suspension? How much did you lower the car?

I am curious to hear your views.

Keep up with the build!

It's a bit stiffer and I think the car is lowered 2-2,5cm. It feels like it's definitely an upgrade compared to stock!

Thanks for the reply.

With the rear spring rate being so high i was worried it might be too stiff in the rear.

Looks like its not too bad.

From what i read these B14s don't like to be lowered too much. Looks like you are right within the limits of lowering the B14.

No it's totally fine (for me).
I had a Silvia S15 before with hsd coilovers and it was muuuuch stiffer than these.

So the real question: if you had to chose ,would it be s15 or gt86?and why?

Personally the GT86. S15 was very nice to drive and had more power, but I live in Belgium and the roads are shitty. Every modification we do to our vehicles here needs to be approved by the vehicle inspection and for the S15 you have 0 legal mods here, not even coilovers. The reason I sold the s15 is because I needed to go to court 2times in one year for illegal modifications... S15 is a very nice machine but it's an old car, already had more fun with my 86!

I had two s13's the last decade. The main reason i sold my last one was due to be very old and wanted a newer and better platform but as fun as the s-chassis.Now i'm saving some money to buy one.I think the GT86/BRZ is the better choice! Can you legally modify the GT86 in Belgium?

Yes! You can't do powermods like turbo or supercharger. But you have legal coilovers and exhaust. Legally you can't do much in Belgium. I owned a S13 too with sr20det swap and some mods but sold it due to Covid and working in the tourism sector. If i would've been caught by the cops with that one i would have another meeting in the court again... The GT86 is like the new n/a schassis.

So while I’m still waiting on the Wedssports to arrive I bought a second hand set of wheels.
Oz Leggera Hlt 18x8 et35 in gloss black. To be legal in Belgium i fitted 225/35 tyres, 225/40 would’ve looked a bit better.

Finally the WedsSport tc105x arrived. They are 17x8 et42 with Goodyear Eagle F1 assymetric 6 225/45 tyres. The OZ’s look better on pictures but man, I’m in love with the new wheel setup!

Some small upgrade this year and i’m very happy with them
- Put on a new exhaust, the HKS Legamax Sports S-tail. Bought this exhaust because it has EC approval. It’s a bit louder than stock, the car finally makes some noise now.
- Wedssport center caps, looks cleaner now.
- Stoptech Sport brake pads and Stoptech grooved Rotors.
