Bitch please.
You can buy anything way more fun for under $50k. Yet you bought this underpowered pos and still complain about not knowing jack shit about cars.

Go kick dirt.

Rice out your car for instagram.

Here's what you need to know:

1. The only exhaust component that provides a useful performance improvement when changed is the headers. Doing this also requires you to run a tune. Headers + e85 tune is worth ~28whp.

2. You can leave everything stock except the headers and it's about as quiet as its going to be with catless headers.

3. Yes, you can have an exhaust shop weld in an electronic cut out and wire up a switch. This can be done to your stock exhaust or to any aftermarket exhaust.

4. There is no benefit to running no muffler, so running a cutout on this platform is basically dumb, but if you want to make it loud with a switch, go for it. Straight piped 4-bangers sound like shit though.

5. You should definitely buy another BMW. The new Z4 coupe (Supra) looks nice.
Thanks

I looked into headers again recently. Found out that a catless JDL UEL header sounds pretty good without changing the exhaust system. Might consider that + tune instead of some complex exhaust setup that will only burn my cash stack.

I might go back to BMW in a year or so if I find myself not enjoying the whole car modding thing. I like BMWs but I got bored of them. They're definitely a nice luxury/sport mix. But for now I'm looking for pure sport feel.

Z4 is sexy, but no manual

I have no idea why people are coming down on you like that.

I had the JDL UEL and over pipe with a nameless catted and resonated front pipe with a the off the shelf OFT tune but the stock catback. It sounded ok, was quiet when cruising and had more power through the rev range. People will tell you that stock overpipe and front pipe won't effect the power much but going to matching 2.5" ones for me made a noticeable difference, particularly at part throttle.

Yeah I found a YT video of JDL UEL + stock exhaust. Sounds good at high revs, and quiet when you drive nice. Seems like a good option for now.

What would you say the noticeable difference is with the front + overpipe? more low-mid RPM torque?

Exactly that. I am sure i picked up some top end too but the low down was far more noticeable.

Hey TOtS! Welcome to the community! Unsure why some people have sticks up their ass but meh!

I have a UEL catless header and OFT. I did have a remark muffler delete but it was too obnoxious for my liking so I removed it.

I am bringing my OEM exhaust in to a friends shop and having him weld on a diverter pipe and exhaust cutout to essentially make a go loud switch. Definitely the way to go if you're not looking for loud all the time. Plus it confuses the hell out of people when you roll up on them with OEM exhaust, then switch it over to absolute loud XD

If you just want to remove the torque curve and increase acceleration you need the following:

-Stickers, lots of em

-19 inch wheels

-Fart can exhaust

- Cut your springs to lower the car so it barely clears speed bumps

-Huge wing

-Neon under glow lights and lights in the foot well

- Some sort of funky body kit mod

...Or you can just get headers and a tune and some lighter wheels

Here's my experience:
Electronically activated: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=111280
Vacuum-actuated: http://www.ft86club.com/forums/showthread.php?t=135900

I really do prefer the Vacuum-actuated style.

Haven’t read replies but the ‘VAREX’ X-Force 2.5/3” catback has a valve system in place you can either manually open and close with a remote, or pay extra for their app that you can configure the valve to open at certain RPM ranges or open to specific %’s. (You can manually open the valve with just the remote to certain intervals but you have to go by ear as you don’t have anything telling you exactly how open it is).

The catback itself sounds good but isn’t crazy loud. I have UEL headers and the catback and drive with the valve fully open. Don’t get me wrong it’s still significantly louder than stock, but not enough for the valve to be totally necessary as it stands. That said I’m planning to upgrade my front/overpipes to try increase the sound which may make the valve remote useful
