I just also realized that if you cut on the "green" line, the mesh will sit further forward on the bottom and most likely would not interfere with the 20 mm black plastic shelf I mentioned in post 197, but that's a long, straight, visible, finished line to cut...

Did you remove/shave off any of the foam on the crash bar?

Took the foam out - it's not really attached, just kinda sits inside the mustache so there wasn't a good way of keeping it installed with the mustache gone. That's the crash bar you see in my pictures. I've since had the bumper taken off again to get hella horns installed and the crash beam painted black. Updated picture attached.

How much space would you estimate exists between the foam pieces and the plastic mustache? Are they touching inside?

Rather then going through all this trouble, I'd probably just paint the moustache body colour.

Don't know, I didn't take it off myself (took it to @The Racers Line), so I didn't look too closely at how it fit up when it came off. The parts are in storage now so can't check anything too readily.

Well the foam piece is 3" thick and the space measured from the top of the crash beam to the front of the mesh grill is 3". The mesh is 1/2" thick so it would definitely not fit behind the mesh as is. The mustache pokes out to accommodate the foam but I don't think it actually touches it...probably real close though.

Just out of curiosity...

Has anyone considered doing this?

How could it be done?
@xkalelx, do you think this something that that @MPHfab could do? Possibly have it integrate with something like a Legsport Hyper Intake Scoop?

It would be super easy to make a finish piece for the Legsport Intake. The difficult part or at least the part that makes it not a good idea is creating a mounting solution to the front bumper. The BRZ GT300 is a full carbon, and the finish panel was sculpted into the bumper (just was not painted blue.) You can bond it with epoxy or even have it bolt over or behind but, it isn't a simple solution turning most people off. Then once you add in the removed benefit of the intake due to most turbo kits not utilizing the factory air box... the potential sales decrease further.

Having the 16-18's with the removable black section certainly does make the task easier.

True, I hear you on the problem of mounting. Feasibly, the 2017 bumper could be useful though as it has mounting clips that could integrate.

Regardless a CF insert wouldn't be that hard to mock up would it?

@kuczynskika Sure, Im sure he could do it. The big question is, can he market it? He would need to sell about 20 to make it worth the effort of making the mold. Reach out to him and inquire. He will make anything you want with enough money thrown at him.

"He will make anything you want with enough money thrown at him." oh this just got dangerous hahah.

What's the feasibly for a potentially one off part though?
