My replacement pump #2 arrived, but I don't want to waste time doing it, if the part # is old.
Yeah the new part number came out a few weeks back because replacing it with the same one doesn't work.

You're the only person saying that there is a new part number (apparently Scion-only).
Sorry to be a douche, but we've heard that story before. Until you post a new part #, there is no updated pump.

Just going off what the dealer has told me that it is a brand new part number.

jasper, if you don't mind once it's all said and done and you get your receipt from the service dept, can you throw up a scan or even just type us the parts and description so we can confirm. That would be great.

Here's what I would've done weeks ago: bug the hell out of service manager to get those part numbers.

You still can its not too late. I am sure your local dealership is aware of the superseded number and you can bug them

Honestly it never crossed my mind about the part number I was going to look at it right before I took it in and than again as soon as it was done to make sure it was different. What does knowing the part number do if you have a good dealer and there is a new part number available to fix the problem they will order it.

My Subaru dealer is not aware of any new _subaru_ part numbers. The engineer that showed up last week apparently wasn't aware as well. So If I knew there was a 100% proven revised HPFP, I'd push for it.

But like I said - I've seen claims of 'new part number' before, right here in this thread. Turned out to be false.

The paper work says I received a modified SU003-00328 HPFP. That is the old part number but according to scion USA who I have been dealing with about this they have modified these to not make the noise so same part number but is modified. Well shall see if Toyota engineers have any clue what they are doing in the next few hundred miles.

That's what I thought, same old story as in original TSB. Same part number, modified at the factory to change the plunger or something.
There is a small chance that the replacement pumps we got the first time around were old ones, but I won't bet on it given that we have people here who are on their third pumps which already chirp. I got my third (1-OEM, 2-first replacement) pump installed yesterday. It's the same part number as well.

I'm looking to see if I can find the aftermarket one that was made by a GM engineer so it might actually work properly. I was it online but don't remember where so I'll have to keep searching until I find it again. This is ridiculous that they won't find a real fix.
