I don't give a shit what the execs think and I refuse to do things that I deem stupid. I keep thinking I'm going to get fired and instead I get more responsibility

I do not recommend this approach.

Careful. Eventually you'll have enough responsibility that they'll assign you minions.

Sounds like a straight-shooter with upper management written all over him.

Yes, but there are some pretty crazy labor laws in Sweden that I have to keep track of now.

For example: If someone works from home more than a certain number of hours per week (I believe 10), the company is responsible for certifying that their home office is a safe working environment, and provide furniture / amenities to the employee for home use if not.

OK, nap is over ........ minion story time.

It was a hot day, back in the late 60s, near Coyote, CA (South of San Jose) just off of hwy 101, where I was managing an agricultural research station.

My lead technician had gone to borrow a land plane from a neighboring farm. The research station had a private RR crossing over one of the major N-S rail lines. He was pulling the land plane with a pickup truck, across the crossing, when the land plane high centered and lifted the drive wheels of the pickup off the ground.

Of course a train was coming ....... but it was way off.

I had a summer student, that happened to be the bosses son, working for me that summer. I ordered him to go out into traffic on 101 and stop the traffic ...... which he did, reluctantly.

The only way to get the stuck land plane off the tracts was to pull it backwards into traffic on 101. Another technician ran and got a log chain and I pulled our biggest tractor out into 101 and pulled the landplane and pickup truck off the tracks just as the train was trying to stop.

We made it in time ....... we did not crash!

What is the rest of the story .... ??

Of course, the bosses son had to tell the boss all about it .......

The highway patrol came and didn't really do anything ....... where would have he started ......

The RR sent a nasty letter to the president of the company ........ and then shut down the private crossing.

No accidents were caused on the highway, the train didn't wreck, we saved the land plane, no one got hurt and I didn't get fired ........

So, the lesson learned, NEVER hire the bosses son as a minion ......

THE END
