The shark fins are also practical when you use a car cover -no antenna getting droopy/limp from a heavy cover resting on it.

If I was to go the shark fin route I'd look at the Calrearo because they have models that include a GPS antenna as well as AM/FM, DTV, etc.

For those with the shorty antenna: Do you notice any reception advantages/disadvantages over stock? Above average AM/FM reception is very important to me since its related to my job.
Before purchasing the FR-S, I was actually looking forward to improved reception over my previous car; I was using my mom's XD as a point of comparison and just assumed, going in to it, that all Scion's had the same antenna. To my disappointment, the FR-S antenna is actually of poorer quality and there is a noticeable difference (albeit rather minor) in reception. The average listener probably couldn't detect the difference. The average FR-S owner probably doesn't care as much about radio reception as me, though :] |

My Grazio & Co:
The reception is notably worse than the stock one. |

Reception doesn't bug me since I mostly used USB or cd's. Edit* sob I replied to the wrong person. This is @Efferalgan |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/GRAZIO-Co-SH...ht_2753wt_1106 Well, probably I used a wrong word: not "notable" as "significant" but rather "recognizable" worse. I.e. you lose signal half a second earlier when entering a tunnel and gain it back half a second later - that's what is easy to spot but in normal conditions it's 100% fine. If you live in a city where signal is strong and don't drive via tunnels much - you will hardly notice any significant difference. I'd say it's 10-15% worse in reception capability than the stock one, not more than that. |

From a former vendor whom has since been banned.
Here is the direct link to the manufacturer http://www.visualgarage.com/Order.php Looks like they are updating their site and I'm not sure how long it's been in that state but there is an email address to contact them directly. I don't recommend contacting the former vendor, and just to make sure you avoid, the vendor username is 86_ZN6 and they also have an external website which you can identify by the username in the address if you do an internet search using keywords 'VG SharkFin FR-S' That website appears to be parked too, so you know it's no buenos... Good luck. |
