Congratulations! I would love one of these, Evo is definitely a bucket car for me. Looks incredible!

Are those manuals or dct?

I’d try to save the « original » paint rather than wrap it. A stock is rare enough that I’d want to keep it that way.

Nice car, congrats!

My daughter and I randomly watched a documentary time lapse on the production of the EVO X on the assembly line a few days ago.
It's a shame they don't make them still, but they are attainable.

Here's the video.

Gsrs are 5 speed manuals in the Evo x generation. MRs are 6 speed dcts. Really miss having a 6th gear but I can live with it. The Evo 8-9 had an optional 6 speed manual I think but in the X generation they went back to 5s because the 5spd gear box was much more durable (opposite of wrx/STI trans where the 6 speeds are solid and the 5 speeds are glass)

Yeah personally I am not a big fan of wraps. If you gotta re-spray the clear coat that means at least a wet sand to remove the existing peeling clear. I think the color coat is still fairly clean other than the wing, which has had actual peeling/color coat contamination. The spots on the roof and hood are pea-sized. I do like the original color and re-spraying the clear I don't think should effect the long term value much - at least not compared to totally UV'd paint.

Basically yes.

I wouldn’t have minded a sixth gear in mine (just to keep rpms down, especially since the car is already loud, and if on the phone, sometimes it’s hard to be heard), but honestly for the CT9A, there was hardly any tangible upside. It cost several thousand more, is heavier, didn’t get better gas mileage anyway (despite having lower cruising rpms), didn’t accelerate any differently and performed only marginally better on the track (based on a back-to-back-to-back comparison Motor Trend did once when they had a regular model, an RS and an MR), but who knows how much is attributed to its aluminum roof and lighter BBS wheels. People did say that in road racing it accelerated slightly better in the higher speeds (100+) due to the higher gears’ ratios, but they also said that the fourth gear of the six-speed is its weak link and can overheat and get damaged, while the five-speed has been far more stout.

The X didn’t exactly “go back” to the five-speed, since it’s been an option the whole time, but they just replaced the six-speed manual with the six-speed DCT for the MR models (though the 2010-only SE model also had it).

I went to a dealership today to see if the 2022 WRX looked or felt bad in person. I was actually shocked. I did not think I would like the base model as much as I did. The problem is that in the mountain states I cannot find one for less than $31K new. I sat in it and the BRZ and since I need a back seat and a turbo I easily leaned toward the WRX. I had a 2002 WRX when they first came out and the 2022 is far superior outside of raw driving experience. I really would like a GR Corolla but it is well outside of my budget. I am fairly confident that with a front mount, catback, and Cobb tune I will not have any regrets for a quick, cheap, fun daily driver. The rear cladding is as unpleasant in person as the pictures, but what I really want is a better looking grill. The base model wheels, even though they are smaller, are still not as hideous as the VAs were. We will see, I may pick one up by the end of the week if a deal on another car I am looking at falls through. 2.9% financing for 48 months on a WRX alone beats the current 6% interest rates on used cars. I have paid 8% interest in the past, but I am older now and hate throwing money away.

Kudos to the guy that bought the high mileage Evo X. I can't do it and wouldn't even do it for a 9 and that is my favorite car of all time.

Oh, and I am only interested in a base model because $32K is the most anyone should pay for a WRX. It is just not worth more than that. An open deck and a top mount limit so much potential this car has.

It’s crazy to think that when the 2002 WRX came out, it was something like $23k. I really wanted one when they came out, but I was a poor college freshman.

Not really crazy to think about that. What's horrible to think about is all the government mismanagement over the last 3 years that is currently bending us all over, again and and again and again....

(and by that comment I don't mean just one country's govt)

This week is the time to buy a 2022 WRX. If you look around you can find them for $2500 off MSRP like I did. I'll post pictures soon.

Wow, was not aware of this. Quick search on Cars.com shows 2022s being sold for $3,500 off sticker at IRA Subaru in MA.

Whew I remember dreaming about that new WRX in high school. And then my buddy went and paid $28k for a new Wrangler Rubicon. I was beside myself. "You could have had a WRX! For less!!!"

Turns out his dad actually bought it so it wasn't really his call to make anyhow. Plus he would have definitely, definitely killed himself with the WRX.

Sounds like a great deal to be had if you’re in the market for an AWD car that has some good performance for around $30k. But on one hand, the fact that at a time where there has been somewhat of a shortage of vehicles and where vehicles are often at sticker or marked up, if these are sitting around, then get the deal while you can. But obviously people aren’t snatching these up.

I think I was either a college freshman or sophomore when they first came out. I definitely would’ve done something stupid if I had a WRX at that age.
