That's a drag. Do any of the Bass Boost settings make any audible difference?

Not really. It sounds like all the bass lines and kick drums are coming through the mid speakers. It sounds distorted and really dull. I have no idea what could be causing this. I mean the car never had good bass before but it was definitely noticeable and would at least vibrate the door panels with the volume turned up.

Seems your HU is not communicating bass properly. Changes in the bass boost options are pretty dramatic for me.

I've touched every single setting I could find on the damn thing with no results. I don't know if it could possibly be defective or possibly wired wrong.

I doubt it is defective. I'd guess wiring.

I think it may be the crossover settings. If it's not too much trouble, could you post a picture of what yours are set to?

They are. I realize the stock speakers have awful bass but I was able to get a decent amount with the stock head unit. I can't get anywhere close to what it was now that I have the Kenwood installed. I'm almost positive that the issue is the Xover settings though.

I listened to my speakers before I bypassed the amp and it was a difference. It did sound loud and not as clean at first when it was connected to the oem amp.

That's where I got the info and idea on how to bypass the amp. So instead of connected it to an external amp I just connected the corresponding wires together, and I had to buy the adapter to. Just read the post entirely so you can understand what I'm saying. It would make sense that the 6.5 speaker producing the lower notes would be effected since it's amplifying and amplified signal.

Well I found the issue. My door speakers just aren't getting any signal. There's no sound coming from them at all haha. I was just listening to tweeters and the speakers in the back.

Time to take it to the shop.

Check your fuses, you probably blew the oem amp fuse.

I'm embarrassed to say, my door speakers aren't working, either! After adjusting the bass boost and other effects, I was getting decent enough bass not to notice at first. Checked the fuse and it looks fine. Seems the HU is just not communicating with the amp that powers the door speakers. I have an email in to Carbon. They installed one of these in a 2017 BRZ, so they should have some insight.

The issue is with their harness. I forget exactly what the audio guy I took my car to said but it did indeed have something to do with how it's connected to the amp. He ended up wiring something in and now it's fine.

Sorry, I know that probably doesn't help too much!

Maybe I'm glad I didn't go with the carbon setup. I should be getting the last piece I need for my camera to work shortly. After that I am fully functional. Minus the stock USB..the toyota USB adapter did not work for me.
