Among the YouTubers the Toyota seems much more popular than the Subaru.

Yeah, that's what I figured. I haven't heard of any of those and YouTube is constantly recommending car stuff to me. The B grade channels bought BRZs asap to create content/get views when the hype was new. Two major real car review channels, operated by guys who are serious drivers and have owned nice cars are buying 86s because they want to own them. They both mentioned the same things that have me going 86, the front end and the suspension tuning. I think Subaru just got too weird with their bumper. They might have made a good choice on their suspension tuning for the average buyer (more comfort, balanced handling) but these guys want to slide.

That's just confirmation bias and attempting to move the goal post. All Youtubers mentioned are running a business after all. Ignorance of a channel doesn't make it less relevant to the subject.

TheTopher (390K subs) has as many subscribers as Everyday Driver and owned a 2013 BRZ long term previously.
TJ (2mil subs) started Youtube with a 2013 BRZ that he still owns as well.
Evan Shank (900K subs) Just heard of him but the content is pretty good honestly.

Glad to see him get one. He was one of the more helpful members on here when the 1st gen came out, as far as exploring different mods & tuning options. It's been years since I've driven one (T-boned by another car), but the GR86 is definitely on my short list of cars I want to own in the future.
