Good observation!

Oh, he uses a long nap roller in order to get the orange peel effect, so it will better refract the light.

For anyone trying to get their hands on one of these, if you search 2020 Toyota 86 on AutoTrader your results are exclusively Hakones. Right now most hits are on the West cost but they're steadily popping up closer to the East coast every day.

Tremclad grey. Rolled on with a low nap roller. Lasted 7 years without chip or rust bleed through!

Maybe I can convince the Old Geezers Gang to have our annual meet in Vegas next year and you can feel young again.

I've talked about my father's 1934 La Salle convertible coupe before. The paint was a custom blend by Dupont based on a 1936 sales brochure. The car had been painted different colours many times. We thought the pale yellow was the original car colour. It was a lacquer sprayed using a Kellog compressor through a Binks gun in the back yard during the day in the hot sun. Each coat of primer and top coat were hand sanded. There was no clear top coat to my knowledge. That paint lasted nearly 40 years.

This is how the car looked after a full day of cleaning and assembly.
(There's a forties Caddy V8 stuff under that hood)

This is how the looked at the 1964 New York Auto show's
"Cavalcade of the Car" exhibit

This is how the car looked in the early 2000's
At present the car is nearing completion of a full restoration

Love the way the seats look. Not too crazy about that metallic green looking color though.

Yea the green paint (from the photos) look fantastic!! The interior is a bit much but could be better in person. I'm glad the steering wheel is one color unlike previous special editions.

British Racing Green Special Edition - Probably Not For US Enjoyment

In depth look of the Hakone edition. Jealous that it has CarPlay.
