Tein monosport or Flex A?
I'd love to hear some opinions from those that have used either. I'm interested in Tein because eventually I would like to try EDFC. This is not a daily driver, but I don't want something that bounces all over the place on every bump.
My basic requirements are lower (at least ~1.5"), ability to adjust the ride when I just want to be comfortable, and ability to hit the track on club days just for fun (so better performing than stock would be nice). Is the $600 upgrade for the monosport worth it in my particular case? |

Both, with proper damping settings/alignment/ride height will handle noticably better than stock. The Flex line is more of a street oriented coilover that can do track, the monosport is a track oriented coilover that can do street. If you look at the spring rates, the monosport is much stiffer so it will be a rougher ride, and the damping characteristics will also be firmer. It depends on your roads and what you're looking for - sounds like the Flex's would be fine and more what you're looking for if it's a DD that needs ride compliance with potential for the occasional track day.

I daily drive the Monosport's on the shit-tacular roads we have up here.
Yes, it can be a little bumpy and there is some more NVH because of the pillowball mounts (and the other stuff I have) but meh, it's a sports car. I went for the Monosports because I track my car reasonably regularly. |

Thanks for both of your input! I decided to try out the flex A with the idea that I want to try active pro EDFC (really the only reason I'm going with Tein). I think for my needs it may end up making me the happiest, but I guess I'll see.
I'm dizzy with the number of options on the FR-S and the number of suspension opinions. @jvincent how do you feel about your monosport on the track? If you dial the monosport damping down, would you say it's still harsher than stock? |

To be honest I've never tried setting it to a soft setting at the track. Maybe I'll do that for the drive home tonight just to see how it feels. |
