That's the thing about high-end cars. By the end of the basic warranty, depreciation will exceed the cost of a new RF or 86 and it's debatable which car would be more fun and ever see a track.

There's always something that'll make your C, M, R, F, L, S or whatever series obsolete within a few years and the cycle repeats.

Having owned and amateur raced a fair amount of cars, at this point I've throttled back and am concerned more with safety, durability, versatility, residual values, and fun to drive on or off pavement without undue risk to the equipment or occupants. I get enough adrenaline flying aircraft.

It makes for good TV but sometimes get a twinge when one of "my" cars goes through Mecum making me wish I'd held on to it.

Now get off my lawn.

Yesterday I had a day with my in-laws. Brother-in-law tells me that he's ordered a E200 AMG line (2ltr petrol).. I didn't know whether to laugh or cry.. The guy is in his mid-forties and driving 'grand-dad' cars... Too late to dissuade him as it's ordered..

Hey, watch the "grand-dad" reference. I bought a car that looked like that 12 years ago. -

So, I reckon I was ahead of your brother-in-law on the grand-dad curve -

Trade it for a new E200 AMG line? Nah, maybe I'll just re-badge my 2007 Saturn and call it good -

Yep, our Aura has ambient lightning - the youngest granddaughter thinks the little hidden lights are cool -

OK, the 2-door model would be less old man -

In that case I voted Z51, though IRL I'd have to test drive almost all of them to actually decide. I still have the GS-R! Actually just got the AC fixed (after being broken for 12 years LOL). Car has had (since 2001) Koni Yellows, AEM CAI, 4-2-1 header (that's actually semi new as the DC SPorts one cracked 3-4 years ago), Greddy cat-back exhaust (actually now just the Greddy muffler [which is SS] as the rest rusted away and I had to have custom fab'd). Also an adjustable lower rear tie bar and a rear strut tower brace (Spoon, so fancy haha). Also added an LSD 4 years ago when the transmission was rebuilt.
ah yes, now I remember. the exhaust we Greddy headers and cat back(Evo) and I also had the AEM CAI. the suspension was sprint springs and KYB adjustables although I don't think it made a lick of a difference.

I forget the cluthc/flywheel/PP I had... can't remember for the life of me. but yeah I had a nifty strut tower brace as well. :p

I miss that car.

But yes, even the base model would be awesome, slap a Nissan badge on it, still call it an Alpine A110 and park it between the 370Z and the GTR. But I have a hunch it would gain a hundred pounds to meet crash tests here, Fiat struggled with that when they started bringing the 500 and 4c over. I know it's Chris Harris favorite of the $50k-$100k sports cars right now.

I saw a 4c driven in anger for the first time yesterday, the thing scoots and looks like a blast, laid down two black lines off the starting line longer than the GT4s and GT350 that showed up.

yeah, I would call that a very niche vehicle. especially at a $50K price tag. a lot of cars available at that price.

Too bad they're too niche because they are no joke on track:

Absolutely beautiful chassis and suspension, though that one is on KW suspension with stickier rubber, but absolutely 100% stock drivtrain... accelerates quick.
