2018 Series.Blue Designation

Just registered my 2018 BRZ Limited Auto and the VIN and registration list my Silver car with a series.blue designation. Any of you BRZ experts know why this is the case? Just curious...

What do you mean by "designation"?

From what he said, it sounds like the VIN submitted resulted in a series blue designation on the registration slip. You'll want to get that changed, rvoll, the authorities won't like that if you get pulled over. Start with your dealer and if they give you that patented blank look they're so good at, give Subaru NA a call. I'm sure you've verified the VIN printed on your reg. with the VIN on your car, of course?

The authorities don't care and no one knows what it means in any event. The registration does have the right color as silver so the VIN and color are correct. The series.blue is in the model description. I ordered the car directly from the factory, so my best guess is that they now put that in for special orders. Just wondered if any of you experts really knew.

I'm not an expert, but that explanation seems highly unlikely, as it doesn't make much sense.

What is your VIN? Did you cross-reference it with the official Series.Blue list posted in these forums? Maybe there is some sort of mix-up...

If it made sense, I wouldn't be asking this question. It would not be in a list posted on this forum. This is a new 2018 produced in May. The dealer knew less about the BRZ than me and couldn't get an answer from their management. I just thought that one of you experts would know. Again, I'm just curious. Perhaps Subaru is using VIN designations in a different way. I guess it's just one of the mysteries of life.

Seems more likely to be a mistake in how the DMV is categorizing the VIN number.

I believe @Stang70Fastback's point was unless you actually check the Series.Blue list on the forum with the number you have, you can't really confirm that "it would not be in a list posted on this forum". Have you checked it yet?

Probably has to do with a system glitch with the Nevada DMV. Here in California, they don't even list the Model of the car on the registration.

The list does not contain any 2018's. And yes, I checked.

The dealership submitted the registration to the DMV, right? Or did you go t the DMV and get it registered?

If the dealership submitted it, I'd start by talking to the dealership. The guy in charge of contracts and submitting that is unlikely to ever actually deal with the car and is just pushing buttons to get things done. Doesn't seem out of the realm of possibility that he flubbed something.

Subaru also listed it as a series.blue on their paperwork. So it is not a DMV thing.

Not a dealer thing. On Subaru factory paperwork. Not interested in changing it as year, Limited model, and color is correct. I'm just curious.
