can I run just back studded tires?

Last season I had the blizzacks and they worked wonderfully, but I had to throw out my back pair when I switched to my summer tires. Now that the season is about to start up I was thinking of putting my blizzacks on front and getting a pair of studded tires for the back. Will I run into any issues with this?

I plan to put my winter tires on only when I'm going to the mountain to snowboard, or when it is going to snows in the city.

You won't have problems until you get into snow and ice.

You'll have rear traction, but no front traction for turning or stopping. Thanks for turning yourself into a missile.

Did you actually read what I wrote, or did you just comment on my title? My first sentence stated that I had non studded tires all around last season and they worked wonderfully. So how would adding studs to the back degrade the efficiency of my front tires?

Yes you're fine.

Same concept as chains on drive wheels (RWD).

You would be fine but matched set is still much safer, here's a good video of mixed vs. matched tires.

EDIT: Noticed you were going to use Blizzaks on front, much better choice than those all seasons used in the video.

In a panic stop, EBFD might have a hissy fit with so much more grip in the rear than up front.

Can't say for sure without trying it out, but it *could* potentially be bad.
