That’s what I said and again the tech’s exact words were that he naver seen it low on oil so he can’t say. He recommended I check it every few hundred miles after they fix it and I get it back. It’s just ridiculous to me that they keep pushing this off on me to look into.

Not specifically. It does say check all fluid levels, but Oil is not singled out.

I had the recall work done and 1000 miles later the same ticking noise kicked in as many people here have reported. Car has 56k and is now a push car. Dealer has said there is a problem with the recall and Toyota has basically told me that since I don't have every receipt for every service done they are probably not going to cover it. SO long story short I am stuck with a car I can't drive. If they will not fix it I am going to tear the engine down and document everything I find. Dealer pulled the oil pan and the oil screen was gone when I viewed it. I am going to see if I can get by with a new crank. pistons and bearings. Any recommendations on these parts? I am not seeing a lot of options.

Of course they hid the pickup screen. If I were you I wouldn’t rebuild the bottom end but simply replace the whole short block. When I did mine I got the short block for 1800. Rebuild gasket kit for 240. I also replaced my OCV screens and DI seals which was $20 or so. I went through 2.5 tubes of TB1217H at $20 each. 2 would probably do the job but I spread the work over a few days so I threw out an opened tube and got a fresh one. You also need oil and coolant. I doubt you could rebuild the bottom end for much less than that. I’d put up more of a fight before throwing your own money at it. |

It’s the dealers problem to fix this. Who cares if you used Walmart oil for the last 5 years? They took your engine apart, then it blew up. That isn’t your fault. |

Try this before tearing apart the engine. If all fails, then i would get a used long block for 2,3k. |

Have to wonder just how many will let the car sit for a full two hours before adding the oil. Wonder how many will pull the relay to build pressure for that matter.

so my cars going back to the initial dealership that screwed my car after the recall. The second dealership that diagnosed my vehicle states that my passenger side heads are bad. Stating they would fix it under TSB 02-151-14R. "If you receive a customer concern of a tapping sound from the B2 cylinder head, confirm it is isolated
to the B2 valve train area before proceeding with any repairs. Once verified, order and replace the intake and exhaust camshafts, the 4 intake valves, 4 exhaust valves, all 8 rockers and all 8 pivots. Refer to the service procedures outlined in the applicable Service Manual for installation." That dealership didn't process any repairs on my car because when dropping my oil pan, they noticed an excessive amount of RTV inside the oil pan and pickup screen. They called me right away and stated that when the initial dealership replaced my headgaskets, they used too much sealant and now i'm looking at a case of oil starvation. Now today, my car is being towed back to the initial dealership who worked on my vehicle for repairs. What should i expect? and what should i fight for in terms of damage done to my vehicle. |

The sealant is an issue related to this recall not the headgasket repair IMO. The actual head gasket repair would not really be a cause of any extra sealant to be used beyond the valve spring recall. As for the issue with the head, if that is not covered under normal warranty, not sure you can expect either Subaru or the dealer to fix it unless there is a sign that parts/process of the valve spring recall would have caused it to fail. |

Second, I did get the okay from Subaru of New England to repair the heads on my vehicle under TSB 02-151-14R when they personally came to look at my vehicle at the second dealership. If the second dealership did not perform this, may I still fight the stance that it should be repaired by the first dealership? Also, what damage should I be aware of with oil contamination/starvation? |

If the second dealership did that repair, they would have had to pull your motor pull the cover, etc like done in the vavle spring recall. Then remove your head(s) for a read rebuild. It is unlikely they did this with out telling you. Especially if they have concerns with the oil starvation, |
