I get the same smell as well, mainly after long highway driving, I've now done 11,000km and has done it from new, it's booked in for a service next week and I have let the service manager no about it, so will wait and see if they can replicate it.

Not sure if this is the same smell, but I smelled hot rubber alot during the first few hundred miles; I thought I was slipping the clutch too much (pretty sure I wasn't) and then I found out the smell was stronger coming out of the exhaust. Now at ~2500 miles, I get a faint whiff of the smell only when I hit higher RPMs, so I'm guessing these are normal scents from the engine breaking in

i figured the smell is when the engine bay gets a bit too hot and the black tape thats around all of the electrical wires gets a-bit-too-hot. I just dismissed it at that.
Pop your hood and check all the black tape. Does it look a bit bubbly and warped? If so it's probably that (or smell areas with lots of that tape).

Had the same issue and did feel strong when going behind the car to check it out. Dealer told me to let it break in and that it should go away after 2K miles or so. They mentioned that it's common on new vehicles apparently.

Started noticing a weird smell coming through my vents and my battery light was randomly flickering so I took a look under the hood and found this

^ holy crap that looks bad

You can add me to the list, this happens every once in a while for me as well and most recently I popped the hood while I was getting the smell in the cabin and isolated the burning smell to the alternator and could tell it was very hot. This sounds like a common problem but no TSB for this or anything?

Everyone who is experiencing this issue, I would encourage you to at least mention it to your dealer so that once enough people are complaining they investigate this.

Mine was arching because the nut on the terminal was loose. Ordered a new terminal and everything is fine now.

i get a burning smell if i have been cruising a good amount of time on the highway (e.g., 30+ minutes), have the vents open to fresh air (not recirculation), and come up to a stoplight immediately. at first, i attributed it to improper clutch work and me burning the clutch when i downshift when getting off the highway, but maybe this could also be a factor... i don't know, i had an old integra before this car that would do the exact same thing, so my thought is still improper clutch work.

what do you guys drive? autos / manuals??

I drive manual so I used to attribute it to burning clutch and other things when the car was newer but at almost 2 years I don't think thats true anymore..

I'm curious if anyone else is experiencing a noise under the hood (I'm not sure if related but really noticed it when I was under the hood smelling for this most recently)

but I get a loud click noise and then it sounds like a fan is running (or engines idles louder) for about 5 seconds then a similar loud click noise and that fan noise is turned off for 5 seconds and repeats?

sounds like it's just the radiator fan turning on, although mine usually stays on for like a minute or two... i hear it cycling a lot in the winter time because it can be cold enough to not need the fan on at times
