OMFG. Definitely contact them about this. They need to do something to "make it right". Unfortunately I'm sure their only suggestion will be to come back so they can "fix it". Of course after they've proven what they're capable of now, why trust them?

Sorry man, that's awful. Can't believe they just sent you on your way like nothing was wrong, expecting you not to notice.. WTF??

So I've always had praises for Livermore Subaru, always had no trouble with them when they serviced the wife's outback. Took my BRZ in for the first time (I usually like to do the services myself, but this was the 15k service), decided to wait for it, pleased to get it back after only 1.5 hrs of waiting (walked to LPI to get my race pads too) and got a car wash, which I needed anyway.

Got back to work and smelled terrible burning oil smell, checked under the hood and there were drops of oil splashed everywhere plus little wisps of smoke coming from the header. Was a little worried and looked around thinking there was a leak of some sort but found nothing. Only thing I found were little pools of oil all over the engine block, guessing somebody spilled motor oil all over during my oil change, WTF! Tried to wipe as much of it down, some spots were too tight for me to reach with my fingers/rag, so I guess those little pools will just have to burn off or be "extra" lubricant. This is why I don't like taking my car to the dealer for service...

Wow that really sucks but Drew is right. You should let them know as that's the only way they (the mgmt) will know that something is wrong with their service right? Otherwise they proceed on as if everything is OK. People need to let them know that things are not right if they are not doing their own QC as they should. Well, it's up to you if you want to give them another chance. Perhaps you can get an engine bay detail or free oil change out of it.

For what it's worth I took my car there for the leaking plate and they fixed it; my engine bay was clean afterwards and the oil burning smell is now gone.

Ya, didn't realize it until I got to work, but will definitely let them know. On the upside, while I was waiting, the parts manager realized that they didn't have any air filters in stock (so won't be part of the service) and offered to get them for me on the house. On a cheery note, this is what my brother sent me after telling him about it.

"Maybe they had this chick working on your car"

Haha, yeah, figured I had time to kill and didn't feel like sitting around in the dealership. Luckily it was in the morning, so it was nice and cool, although I got a good sweat going on the way back, was getting warmer by that time, plus I was bicep-curling my brake pads (fronts on my right hand and rears on my left)

Usually everyone ends up at Quickly in Milpitas anyway. That's where I'd just go to begin with at this point.
