I’m the high bidder on that car through their eBay affiliate, Texas Auto Direct.

Besides the engine oil cooler the basic supporting mods for a dual-use track car are already present on the Ts.

Had the Ts been available when I bought mine, I would have got one and that's exactly how I would have seen it. Now that it's available, it's perfectly reasonable to buy one at its minimal price premium over a normal BRZ if you aren't planning to turn it into a trailer-only dedicated track monster.
yep exactly!

Kidding aside, have you given autotempest.com a try? Sort of an online sales aggregate site. Used it to find the car below. About an 11 hour drive home, and with more miles, but willing to bet the price can be talked down.

Edit: Miami Blue GT3RS?
Thanks will do! The GT4 in my first post is a paint to sample Voodoo Blue. The gt3rs is white with the weissach package (exposes carbon hood/roof).

I was offered the gt3rs at msrp (almost unheard of) and my dealer didn’t kill me on the gt4 trade. Porsche GT cars are hard to come by at sticker and even harder to get an allocation on. Plus, it may be the last NA RS and there is a new gt4 getting announced next March or so at Geneva. Just good timing all around.

Good luck on your search. I bought my tS for the same reasons you're wanting one.

Manual on the GT3 RS ? So I take it you don't like the direction Porsche is going recently ( H4 Cayman Turbos , or the 3L H6 Turbo in the 911 ) ? Different sound from the turbo vs. NA , but turbo does produce more torque.

Only PDK (dual clutch auto) on the new RS cars- last manual gt3rs was 2011. It’s a phenomenal transmission but I would opt for the manual if they offered. You can get a manual in the new GT3 though, but you’d lose the wide body from the turbo s with all those carbon panels/magnesium/ better grip and aero. If you find an owner running a 991 RS at a track day see if they will give you a ride.

I do prefer the naturally aspirated engines, but the new turbo engines are great. The new 718 gts is quicker than my old gt4, especially up here at altitude in Denver.

Right on. I'm a fan of the 997.2 models (especially 911 Turbo , or even a S) , and my favorite Cayman is the 2012 Cayman R in manual !!! Less weight is higher performance!! I've heard from a handful of Porsche owners the last few years, some PDK issues. I've never driven PDK, sure it's a bit faster , but not many Porsche's over 100k miles with PDK to really see long term reliability stats. I'd go manual.

**Also if you get a 997.2 , or a Cayman up until 2012 , it's a true 100% unadulterated Porsche. I'm sure you are aware of VW buying out Porsche in late 2012. Then came electronic steering 2013+

Early PDK had some issues, I’d say much better in the newer cars and the RS gets a faster/ beefier pdk-s. Many a gt4 has 3rd gear failures. Always something with a car if driven hard enough. I’d say the good thing about porsche is they’ve covered every gt4 3rd gear failure and there has been quite a few. Even if it’s on track.

I love the early 997.1 RS cars, particularly the RS green.

I don’t mind VW having ownership. Porsche tends to do its own thing with the 911/718 cars. Electronic steering being this decades water cooled issue along with the cars going turbo.

If cost was not an issue, I’d have a singer.

When ever I see 991.1 or 991.2 911's or 2014+ Caymans, I've started to see more and more styling ( both interior and exterior) ques reminiscent of VW product. To each his own. If I was to ever own/drive one I'd go Cayman R 2012 , or possibly a 2010-'11 C2 or C2S

Hey, as long as you can see value in what you're buying and have fun driving it, then it's all good I suppose!

The tS was a 2018 special edition car not a regular ongoing trim level.
