Oh man, thank you all for the quick rundown! I think I'll be looking to pull a good deal on a 15 BRZ when I go shoppin this winter.

Also, I love that tag, Steve, haha. My girlfriend and I are big fans -- she made and cosplayed Godoka for Dragoncon 2014. I took looooots of pictures of her featuring random hoverhanding otaku :P.

RSR lowering springs.
On paper 1.2 in front and 1.4 in rear.
In reality closer to 1.75 at both (as measured against the same point on stock.
Do it! Looks like a whole different car.

If going BRZ there are loads of goodies you can get on the different versions.

Jeez. Stock ride height on my 240sx made the stock twins look stanced, haha. It'll be a while before I wanna dig into that myself, but it looks great!

Oh yeah. Even though I'll miss out on what is objectively (apparently) the best color, a couple buddies of mine drive WRXs... I know it's all heart, but I think they'd disown me if I brought home a Scion...

(Also, I drove Honda Fit Sport in a similar orange in college and got three speeding tickets in a year... With my luck, I feel like silver or dark gray miiiight be a better call...)

Hate to keep hijacking this thread, but spent a bit of time looking into these. Dunno if I'm brave enough, especially since Seattle roads are somewhat horrid, to go with the Superdown version lol

But the price for both versions is making me giddy. May push the exhaust to the end of next month instead of the beginning. D:

Little known fact about me: I bought this car because it was my chance to own a brand new 240SX. No joke.

I've always wanted the chance to own a new stock S13, but had to settle for many used (and often mint) S13s between 1996 and 2005. So when the opportunity came out to get a BRZ (or FRS), I jumped on it.

Depends on if you prefer new or used. Aside from that, the rest are all cosmetic or minor differences that have zero impact on driving fun.

Thanks for the constructive feedback. Truth be told, when I first read the forums a couple years ago, I will admit the initial wave of complaints left me questioning the long term reliability of the car.

I've had my share of pretty raw cars ( Miata, S2000 ), so tiny rattles and squeaks are something I'm use to and don't mind remedying on my own.

I've toyed with the idea of purchasing one of the twins a couple times now and I've made these posts just to see if there's any compelling reason to buy new versus a used prior model year.

From what I gather, after reading all the TSBs I'd probably shoot for a late model 2013 or 2014, since they hopefully have all the updated parts and any incremental improvements. Of course, this can be hit or miss and some issues are present in all cars.

@Lord09 this is probably a silly question but have you test driven one of any year?

I have actually, first impressions were very positive, liked everything aside from the clutch pedal spring.

But the 10-15 test drive I took really isn't enough to get a gauge on the issues I'm concerned with.

Yeahhh... well, sounds like we're concerned pretty much with the same things, but after reading a few of the "a year/two years later..." posts, I feel like I'll go into the shop knowing exactly what to look for the signs of.

That's kinda why I'm shooting for a new one. I really want to be able to make the most of a warranty.
