I am a bit of the odd man out here since I never followed nor lusted after an 86.
I was the exact same way. I actually never cared too much about this car and it was my friend who was the one following it's development because I was still loving my 2002 Subaru WRX & hating the BMW 335i.

I ended up buying this car in 2014 because once i started to test drive cars from Honda Civic's all the way up to M3 V8's...this car was the one that connected with me the best. It felt so pure compared to everything else that was new. (I only was shopping for brand new cars)

Of course, I was a huge fan of drifting, initial D and the original AE86 so I felt right at home with this car

I had only seen drifting in movies (and my laneway in a blizzard), to me Initial D was something that Dave would have on his towels and I had never heard of an AE86 before and if asked would have said it was some sort of rifle!

I wanted a car that was:
Cheap enough I could wear it out without feeling bad.
Looked good.
Was at least semi fun to drive.
Could keep up with traffic on the highway.
Was good on gas and cheap to operate.

And above all
Was at least a little different from the norm (does it surprise anybody I am an attention whore?)

My FRS checked all these boxes in a manner nothing else did.

Can't wait
1. Must be new. Don't care how cheap used anythings are and I doubt there will be a throwaway price on a new R35 in 5 years
2. Must be cheap. Don't think the Supra (if it ever actually gets made at all) will come in under $40K
3. Yep that is the car I will be looking at.

Yet another concept we will probably never see here. If it does then yes it would be on the short list.

I guess I don't see the problem? It's not like the FRS is spacious inside

I think some of us, maybe mostly me is thinking.

yah have all the pressure make all the stop gap decisions now etc. with this 1.5 mono.

But don't fuck up the 2020 and the New Supra....

also the SFR is so cute, in that it looks like it's an angry guppy.

Not the space inside that is my concern but a 10 second 0 to 60, being as visible as many motorcycles and the absolute impossibility of driving in the snow that are. Not to mention that three wheeled vehicles are notoriously unstable at speed and I doubt that those are an exception.
