1. Learn Hiragana (not only their alphabets, but pronunciation)
2. Listen/watch Japanese music & TV show to get used to the Japanese language

Do these 2 steps everyday 10~45mins each

When you do 1~5 steps for 1~2 months you'll have the understanding of basic Japanese alphabets down.

Adding more steps:
3. Rent Japanese kids (preschool~elementary) books (from local Library) and read em out load
4. Write all the Hiragana & numbers, read em out loud.

Do these along w 1 & everyday 20~45mins each

Last steps
5. Write a sentence in English and try translating it in Japanese. When you translate it into Japanese read it out loud.
6. Forget all English grammar, cuz Japanese have different grammar lol

Do these steps for 4~6 months & you should be able to understand Japanese to certain level.

I did these steps to one of my friend & he could speak, read & write Japanese in 7 months (speaking was kinda funny lol). Other friend used Rosetta Stone and speaking part was almost same level but lil bit worse... writing & reading was horrible.

If you need any help w Japanese, this forum has a ton of Japanese speaking members, so they can help ya out too

A lot of people get mixed up with 'wo' and 'Ga' a lot. (I'm still having some difficulty using 'ga'. Lol

And Japanese isn't a "vague" language like a some people say it out to be. Just remember that a verb can mean a couple different things. Kinda like a response. In most animes with english subs--the translations are from people who translate as how they think it means. When in reality it could mean 3 different things depending on situation.

"So desu ne"
Could mean..
"yea"
"Really!"

Essentially an expression. :P

So you know how everyone hates hybrids? And for that matter, automatic transmissions?
What if...they came out with a parallel/series hybrid that had say, 4 pedals and manual transmission :O 3 typical pedals, and then 1 pedal for the parallel hybrid motor. IMO, that would be a blast to drive :P Hell, how about a CVT that has a sliding bar for the gear ratio control.

Maybe I'm just insane.

I guess what you could do is split the gas pedal in 2, electric motor control on the right. But maybe I'm just a masochist.

Someone did something similar.

For first gen insights, it's a joystick to throttle back or accelerate the electric motor for maximum power or MPG. You mount it next to the manual shifter. Effectively a second throttle.

Actually, with a series+parallel hybrid setup we can just ditch the clutch for a total of 3 pedals. The electric motor can remove the need to slip a clutch or have a torque converter, and the battery should provide enough power for just sitting there. Maybe a battery meter just in case you need to stick it into neutral to generate some power. Matching the revs while shifting up could happen via electric motor braking the engine until the gear engages.
So it'll be like driving an auto box, except the gas pedal is split in 2, for rev matching and revving at random people to piss them off :P
