Personally, the way its worded, i feel like Honda doesn't want ANYTHING to do with sports cars. I feel with the NSX that they are forcing themselves to make it.
The new Civic SI is alright but its nothing to write home about.

R4: When I became CEO, there were a V8 RWD platform, and a V10 NSX on its last development phase. All of them wonderful cars. So when we decided to cancel all those programs one by one, the reaction of the R&D department was very violent, they were really angry, enough to say to me: "Don't dare show up here in the labs!". Yet people's needs in different countries and regions are different. So what we should pursue is "developing cars that will be loved by the different people in different places". That's what the Lehmann shock taught us.
The R&D department should have rioted... Oh wait, the Japanese don't do stuff like that... |

I predict the NSX mostly will be sitting in the showroom for look if it is north $80k today. Man, I'm happy to have such a practical $25k twin as dd commuting. What is the point to drive a Honda NSX on freeway today? For some reason I don't see any interest in the comeback NSX.

If Honda wants to channel their limited resources into making boring commuter cars targeted at emerging markets like India, let them. That's their choice, and I'm sure it's a sound business decision for them.
All it means is I'll be taking my dollars elsewhere. No big deal, there are a bunch of other companies now that are focusing on the enthusiast market: Toyota, Subaru, Nissan, Mazda, VW, BMW, Ford, Chevy, etc. Hell, even MB is bringing an "entry-level" AMG product to the market. We're entering a golden era for sports/sporty cars.

As much as I loved my 8th gen Si there was no compelling reason to buy the 9th (or anything else from Honda). Why doesn't anybody complain the Si is unpowered (that's all you hear about the twins)?!

Killing the V8 sort of makes sense. Even without the financial crisis it would have sold relatively few cars for the amount of development resources spent. But not the NSX if it was that close to production... they need at least one halo car, and just imagine what a VTEC V10 would have sounded like....
