Oh for crying out loud the number that have had serious issues is minuscule compared to the number out there. Drive the damn thing and stop worrying it is gonna blow up at any second. If that paranoid then trade it for something you think will last forever.

Good to see some higher mileage cars.

Well how many then? And what "issue"?

Please don't read as angry I am truly asking not calling out.

These cars are pretty new still and their warranty trends aren't fully developed so we'll see how the cars are doing 3-5 years from now as the average one crests 50K miles.

LOL Hmmm... It'll be 2 years owned this September... and I'm at less than 14000 miles. Though, in my defense, there was a nine-month Afghanistan deployment in there!

I'm not sure how many of those are due to abuse (tracking with high oil temp), poor maintenance (running on low oil), or build quality.

Well I will be able to report a 50k number by the end of September.
I have done a pile of research on the spun bearings and although I certainly do not have the data you have available I have seen a trend with the stock engines. I eliminated boosted and tuned failures right from the start as they introduced way too much of a variable. On phone so don't have the data in front of me but of the 280 or so cases I could find most were 2013s, most were under 20k miles (some substantuly) and the vast majority had been owner serviced.
I realize that there could be loads I couldn't find out about but this was enough for me to not worry about it.

I agree.

I figure that my chances of getting hit by an impaired driver, is greater than the chances of my FR-S's engine giving out.

…..and I won’t allow myself to worry about every dang car coming towards me on the highway ......

I thought the bearing issue cause was oil starvation due to prolonged high lateral forces (aka racing). An oil pan baffle was the fix IIRC.

That is one of the theories. Of course almost every owner of a stock one that went said they never drove the car hard.
